I’m so excited! One of my favorite spy shows, The Night Manager, is back! It originally aired on BBC One back in 2016, and then Amazon Prime Video brought it to us in the States. The first season was amazing – it won a couple of Emmys and three Golden Globes! I thought we’d never get another season, but after almost ten years, Season 2 finally premiered in January 2026 and wrapped up in February. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Simon Cornwell, son of the late John le Carré, revealed in an interview with The Times that a third season of The Night Manager is planned. He indicated this season will likely be the last, as the show’s writer, David Farr, originally conceived the series as a three-part story. Cornwell also assured fans that the next season won’t be delayed for another decade.
Simon Cornwell is a co-CEO of The Ink Factory, the production company behind both the English and Hindi versions of the TV series The Night Manager. The Ink Factory also produced The Little Drummer Girl, featuring Florence Pugh and Alexander Skarsgård, and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, which was adapted from his father’s third novel.
Simon Cornwell Talks The Night Manager Remaining Relevant

John le Carré’s The Night Manager, published in 1993, was his first novel after the end of the Cold War. It tells the story of a secret mission to stop a global arms dealer. The television series adapts this story, bringing it up to date for modern audiences. Simon Cornwell, connected to the project, finds the story’s similarities to current events deeply troubling. He notes that events in places like Venezuela and Greenland remind him of the Cold War era, specifically the competition between powerful nations for control of the world and its resources.
Cornwell also mentioned that Barack Obama showed Season 1 of The Night Manager at the White House when it first came out. However, he doesn’t believe the current administration will do the same. He joked, “I really don’t think it’s the current president’s style, and honestly, if he did watch it, I’m pretty sure I’d be arrested if I tried to enter the U.S.”
According to Simon Cornwell, fans won’t have to wait too long for Season 3 of The Night Manager. The new season will likely continue to diverge from the original novel, reflecting changes in the world while still staying true to the core story. With Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie both set to reprise their roles, the final season promises to maintain the show’s high quality – it currently has a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – and deliver award-winning entertainment.
