I’m so hyped! Bandai Namco just announced Season 3 for Tekken 8, and they’re saying it’s going to be like a whole new beginning for the game. Sounds amazing!
The major Season 2 update, released last spring, included some changes to the game’s balance that proved controversial. Specifically, it strengthened certain systems and mechanics that many players already thought were too powerful.
While some changes have been made since then, the overall feeling is that Tekken 8 could benefit from a fresh start, and it appears that’s exactly what’s happening.
I’m really excited about what the developers are planning! From what I’ve heard, they’re going back to the roots of what made the game great, and they’re aiming for gameplay that feels more thoughtful and intentional. We don’t know exactly what that means yet, but it sounds fantastic!
It’s likely that the game will have shorter combos and less overly aggressive gameplay, moving it closer to the style of earlier Tekken titles.
The Season 3 update will release on 16th / 17th March (depending on your timezone).
Season 3 will also include new playable characters as downloadable content. Three of these characters have already been announced, and they’re all ones players will recognize from previous games.
- Kunimitsu – releases late spring
- Bob – releases summer
- Roger Jr. – releases autumn / fall
A new character will be joining the cast this winter, but their identity is currently being kept secret.
So, Tekken 8 is coming, and honestly, I’m hoping they really address the Heat system. I’m already bracing for the complaints about it being overused online – I’m sure the comments section will be full of people saying the same thing! Let’s see if they can balance it out.
