The game Highguard has moved out of the “Mostly Negative” review category on Steam, just days after its release. While it’s still considered “Mixed” with only 42% of over 34,000 reviews being positive, a new 5v5 Raid Mode has been added, which is a welcome improvement.
For a limited time this weekend, a special playlist is available that lets more players join each match – increasing the player count from six to ten. There have also been a few adjustments to the raiding phase: players now have ten respawns, and it takes a bit longer for both attackers and defenders to advance. Just a heads-up, the game’s performance with these changes isn’t completely polished yet.
A new map, Soul Well, is now available for 3v3 players. It’s quite large, but the generator locations are clearly marked, and there’s a direct path down the center leading to the Anchor Stone.
Wildlight Entertainment has added a setting to turn motion blur on or off for all players. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users now also have the option to disable anisotropic materials. The game has been optimized across all platforms, with improvements to animations, projectiles, and other elements.
Highguard is now available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Our review of the initial release is available here. Despite a bumpy launch and a challenging development period, Wildlight plans to continue supporting the game for at least the next 11 months. You can find their development roadmap here.
