Tekken 8 Season 3 Announced With Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr. Coming This Year

Bandai Namco is continuing support for Tekken 8 with Season 3, which will add four new playable characters. Fans will be excited to hear that Kunimitsu is coming this late Spring, followed by Bob in the Summer and Roger Jr. in the Fall. A fourth, currently unannounced character will join the roster this Winter, along with a new arena to battle in.

Players who buy the Season 3 Pass will get a five-day head start with each new character, plus a special Aurora Outfit Pack featuring new looks for Jin Kazama, Lili, and Panda. The pass goes on sale February 9th, Pacific Time. And there’s even more coming soon – we’ll have a 2nd Anniversary event next week, followed by a rank reset and gameplay balance changes in mid-March.

I was so hyped for Tekken 8 when it came out in January 2024 on PS5, Xbox, and PC – and it really delivered! Critics loved it, and it sold over three million copies, which is amazing. But honestly, I and a lot of other dedicated fans were pretty disappointed when they added a cash shop soon after launch. Then, the balance changes started, and it drove a lot of us away. It’s a shame, because the game itself is fantastic.

Despite significant improvements over the last few months, Tekken 8 currently has a mixed reception on Steam, with only 55% of players recommending it. The departure of the game’s director, Katsuhiro Harada, last December hasn’t helped either. However, the developers are releasing new content with Season 3, and it remains to be seen if that will improve the game’s overall standing.
