Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Could Include Ace Combat Zero as a Pre-Order Bonus, Per SteamDB Listing

After six years, Project Aces has announced Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, the newest installment in the popular flight combat series. While more information will be released later this year, some details have recently appeared on the game’s Steam page.

References to the PlayStation 2 game Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War have been added to information about the upcoming Ace Combat 8, as noted by Ace Combat Wiki and Ikcatcher. This is notable because Zero hasn’t been available on modern platforms since its 2006 release, suggesting a port or remaster could be coming. It’s possible this older game will be included as a bonus for pre-ordering Ace Combat 8.

Bandai Namco has a history of offering bonus content, and this isn’t the first time it’s happened with Ace Combat games. For example, those who pre-ordered Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown received a free copy of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War.

There’s also a potential closed network test in the works for Ace Combat Online, which might be the online player-versus-player mode for the next Ace Combat game, potentially titled Ace Combat 8. While we don’t have a release date yet, we could see more information at a big gaming event like the rumored State of Play around February 12th.

A potential PC port of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War has been spotted on SteamDB. The listing for AC8 has been updated, and there are separate launch options, including one labeled “CNT,” which likely indicates a closed network test is planned. Players will also have the option to launch “ACZero” through SteamOS. The game’s installation folder is labeled “RUKBAT,” and its meaning is currently unknown. It might be a codename or a reference to a star in the Sagittarius constellation, but we haven’t confirmed this.
