PS5 Pro Does Not Fully Support New PS5 Exclusive Game

The PS5 Pro doesn’t fully utilize its capabilities with a new game designed specifically for PlayStation, meaning players won’t experience any special enhancements on the upgraded console. It’s disappointing when this happens, but it’s not unusual. In fact, most new games don’t immediately take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s extra power. You’d expect exclusive games – those only available on PlayStation – to be better optimized, but even they sometimes launch without full PS5 Pro support, which is a bit of a letdown.

In January 2026, two games launched exclusively on PlayStation 5. One, Code Violet, received very poor reviews, earning a score of just 27 out of 100 on Metacritic. The other game, Cairn, has been much more successful. It’s currently tied for the highest-rated game of 2026, with a Metacritic score of 84. Cairn was developed by The Game Bakers, a French studio previously known for Furi (2016) and Haven (2020).

Lack of PS5 Pro Enhanced Games

This news comes after the year’s first major game release launched last month without taking full advantage of the PS5 Pro. This situation isn’t as significant, though, because the game, Cairn, isn’t demanding a lot from the PS5, so it probably won’t see a huge improvement with the PS5 Pro’s extra power. Even so, it’s always good to see games optimized for the new console. As we’ve noted since the PS5 launched, too many games – including big titles – are released without enhancements for the PS5 Pro. Some developers add these updates later, but many don’t. Currently, there are no plans to add PS5 Pro support to Cairn, but we’ll let you know if that changes.

Great news for PS5 owners! The upcoming PS5 exclusive launching this week will be optimized for the PS5 Pro, and the first big multi-platform game of 2026 will be too. Both titles are expected to look and play significantly better on the more powerful PS5 Pro compared to the regular PS5.
