If you’re in a best red carpet look contest with Chappell Roan—good luck, babe.
Taylor Swift, nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year, really turned heads with her outfit at the 2026 Grammys, continuing her tradition of memorable looks.
Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, 27, made a statement at Crypto.com Arena on February 1st. She initially appeared in a simple red outfit with a cape, but then removed it to reveal only a nipple clamp during her red carpet photos. (You can see photos of all the stars on the red carpet here.)
Despite appearing confident on the red carpet, Chappell confessed to Zuri Hall during Live From TopMob: Grammys that she was actually feeling overwhelmed.
She confessed that being filmed without knowing how the footage would be used was the most difficult part of the evening for her.
Nevertheless, Chappell clarified she was “feeling good.”
“I’m not performing this year,” she added, “so this is a piece of cake.”
Even though Chappell is nominated for two awards at tonight’s ceremony, hosted again by Trevor Noah, she’s had a calmer run-up this year. Last year, she generated a lot of buzz leading up to the Grammys, where she rightfully won Best New Artist and earned a total of six nominations.
It was amazing to see Chappell finally get her big break – she’d been working so hard in the music world for almost a decade! But what really struck me was that she didn’t just celebrate her own success. She immediately used her newfound platform to shine a light on other musicians who are still working hard at home, dreaming of their own moment. It was such a classy and inspiring move.
In her acceptance speech last year, Chappell thanked everyone who supported her and then made a powerful request. She explained that if she ever won a Grammy, she would use the opportunity to call on record labels and the music industry to provide fair pay and healthcare – particularly for up-and-coming artists – given the millions they earn from musicians.

Even after becoming famous and winning a Grammy, Chappell faced challenges adjusting to life in the public eye. She’s said that balancing the demands of celebrity was a difficult process.
I’ve been following Dave Chappell for a long time, and I remember being really struck by something he said in an interview with the BBC last January. He actually confessed that he thinks he’d achieve even more success if he could just get out of his own way. He explained it like this: if he didn’t listen to that inner voice constantly telling him to pull back when things feel risky or uncomfortable, he believes he could really reach a wider audience. It’s fascinating – he feels like suppressing his instincts, that natural self-preservation, is what’s holding him back from becoming even bigger.

Considering the concept, Chappell added, “And I would still be on tour right now.”
Fortunately, Chappell’s grandfather, Dennis Chappell (the inspiration behind her stage name), used to tell her that there are “always options” for achieving success.
And those options mean Chappell is taking her time coming up with her next project.
“There is no album,” she told Vogue in August. “There is no collection of songs.”
She explained that her first book took five years to write, and she anticipates her next one will take at least that long.
Despite everything, Chappell consistently delivers fantastic outfits, one after another. Keep scrolling to see more amazing looks from the 2026 Grammys red carpet…
