Trevor Noah has always hosted music’s biggest night to the beat of his own drum.
Oh my gosh, you guys, Trevor Noah hosted the Grammys again! This was his sixth and final time, and it was just… magical. It aired on February 1st, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in LA. Okay, so maybe it wasn’t his funniest monologue ever, it wasn’t full of super sharp jokes, but it was SO heartwarming! He was just genuinely celebrating all the incredible artists there. I was glued to the screen, honestly! I need to see pictures of everyone who was there at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, it was a night!
When he reached Justin Bieber’s table, he enthusiastically called the Album of the Year nominee a hero, which made Hailey Bieber laugh.
Noah excitedly exclaimed, “Justin Bieber is back!” He went on to praise Bieber’s accomplishments, mentioning his album Swag and four Grammy nominations. But Noah seemed most thrilled about Bieber becoming a father, offering his congratulations to the new parents.
But welcoming son Jack Blues Bieber wasn’t the heroic part.
Noah shared his appreciation for Justin Bieber’s influence, saying, ‘My favorite thing Justin Bieber did recently was convince Apple to change the location of the dictation button. He’s a lifesaver! Now, if he could just ask Apple to make search on phones actually find things, that would be amazing. We really need that, Justin!’
Hailey promptly cracked up.

Noah turned to Hailey, the founder of Rhode Beauty, and jokingly asked, “Do you happen to have a discount code for the lip tint? No worries if not, we can chat about it later.”
If Hailey and Pharrell Williams, the current creative director for Louis Vuitton menswear, follow through with their plans, Noah will finish his time with the company in a remarkable way.
At 41, the former host of The Daily Show – and a four-time Grammy nominee, including a nomination this year for his narration of Into the Uncut Grass – is known for a gentler approach when hosting awards shows at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. Instead of harsh jokes, he typically focuses on playfully celebrating the artists’ achievements. For example, last year he jokingly compared Taylor Swift’s fans to an “army of Kendrick Lamars” to highlight their influence.

Trevor Noah is a huge fan of the Grammys, and he always discovers new artists while watching. He explained to Billboard in 2022 that people often underestimate the incredible amount of effort that goes into each performance – from hitting every note perfectly to coordinating lighting and choreography with the artists and cameras. Seeing behind the scenes gives him an even greater appreciation for the show.
Although Taylor Swift isn’t nominated this year, The Life of a Showgirl, released on October 3rd, will be eligible for next year’s Grammy Awards. Currently, Kendrick Lamar is the frontrunner for the 2026 awards with nine nominations. These include Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for G NX, Record and Song of the Year (shared with SZA) for “Luther,” Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for his work on SZA’s “30 for 30,” and Best Rap Song for “tv off” featuring Lefty Gunplay.
Grammys executive producer Ben Winston revealed that 2025 was nearly Noah’s last year hosting the show. The author of Born a Crime had intended to be in South Africa when the 2026 Grammys were scheduled, which would have made continuing as host difficult.
Winston recalled a conversation with Noah from a year prior, sharing that Noah had said, ‘I’m going to be home for a while, so I can’t do it.’ Winston then remembered Noah reflecting on five years of working together, saying, ‘It’s been great.’ Winston responded that he was upset by the news, because he truly enjoyed collaborating with Noah, praising his intelligence and humor. Winston also added that Noah handles the often-intense direction from producers with remarkable composure.
Winston explained he’d been on a few dates recently but wasn’t feeling good about any of them. Around Christmastime, he sent the show’s producer a video showcasing the potential cast, saying, ‘Here’s who I think should be on the show.’
The Emmy-winning performer explained, ‘I just really needed someone.’ She described feeling intensely anxious, saying it felt like her phone was vibrating for a long time – about twenty minutes.
Noah agreed to return for one last season of the show, which will be broadcast on CBS before Disney’s ABC takes over in 2027. He made his decision quickly – in about 30 seconds – but made it clear this would be his final season.
Winston said he was really pleased because the person just provided exactly what everyone needed for the evening.
