Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Night Manager season 2
Good news for fans: The Night Manager is coming back for a third season on BBC One and iPlayer! Many viewers were left reeling after the intense ending of season two, so a continuation of the story is very welcome.
Okay, so ‘The Night Manager’ finally gave us a follow-up, and it threw Jonathan Pine – Hiddleston, of course – right back into the dangerous world of espionage. Imagine my surprise when he came face-to-face with Richard Roper, the villain he thought he’d dealt with years ago! It turns out Roper wasn’t as dead as everyone believed, and that instantly ratchets up the tension. It was a genuinely shocking moment and a smart move to bring back that familiar antagonist.
A few observant fans guessed that Laurie would return to the show before it was officially revealed in episode 3, but many were still completely surprised – which was exactly what the creators were hoping for.
“We somehow managed to pull it off,” Farr said with a laugh. “It was an incredible team effort, and we really enjoyed it! Hugh was a true sportsman and had to quietly slip away afterwards.”
With Roper back in power at the end of season 2, he’s likely to be the main focus when The Night Manager returns for its third installment. Here’s an update on what we know about the next season.
The Night Manager season 3 release date speculation

While there’s no official release date for The Night Manager season 3 yet, it is happening, and thankfully, it shouldn’t be delayed as long as the second season was.
Both the BBC and Prime Video immediately commissioned seasons two and three, which allowed the writer, David Farr, to create a shocking cliffhanger knowing he’d be able to wrap up the story in future episodes.
And fortunately, there won’t be another decade-long hiatus to endure.
Even though the scripts aren’t finished yet and filming will take place in multiple countries, we expect The Night Manager season 3 won’t be released for about two years – likely sometime in late 2027 or early 2028.
The Night Manager season 3 cast speculation: Who could return?

Season three of The Night Manager will bring back Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, reprising their roles as rivals Jonathan Pine and Richard Roper.
We can probably expect to see Hayley Squires return as Sally Price-Jones, Indira Varma as the antagonist Mayra Cavendish, and Noah Jupe as Danny Roper in season 3, continuing their roles from previous seasons.
It’s unclear what the future holds for Camila Morrone’s character, Roxana Bolaños, a resilient woman who recently betrayed Pine and Teddy. The show’s creator, Farr, hasn’t decided if this betrayal will be the end of her storyline.

He particularly enjoyed the final scene with Roper, explaining that it’s where Roper realizes she’s his equal – just as strong and uncompromising as he is – and he accepts that she’s beyond his control.
It’s hard to say for sure what the future holds, but she’s definitely at a pivotal moment. It’s rewarding to see her overcome everything, and while this feels like a good conclusion to her story, I’m not sure if there’s more to tell.
It’s safe to say we won’t be seeing Olivia Colman, Diego Calva, or Paul Chahidi return as their characters – Angela Burr, Teddy Dos Santos, and Basil Karapetian, respectively – since none of them survived season 2.
Here’s an overview of likely The Night Manager season 3 cast members:
- Tom Hiddleston as Jonathan Pine
- Hugh Laurie as Richard ‘Dickie’ Onslow Roper
- Noah Jupe as Danny Roper
- Michael Nardone as Frisky
- Alistair Petrie as Alexander ‘Sandy’ Langbourne
- Indira Varma as Mayra Cavendish
The Night Manager season 3 plot speculation: What could happen next?

Season 3 of The Night Manager will continue the story after the dramatic ending, where Roper successfully carried out his plan to disrupt Colombia and rebuild his wealth.
The operation didn’t just harm countless innocent Colombians – it also tragically claimed the lives of Roper’s son, Teddy, and his longtime adversary, Angela Burr, losses that deeply affected Jonathan Pine.
Fans can only hope Pine will get his revenge after he recovers from the surprise of being tricked by the clever arms dealer.

Her death will definitely be a major catalyst for what happens next season. We’re moving forward with the story quickly, and her loss will have significant repercussions and drive the plot forward.
Pine will face a difficult challenge, going up against both Roper and his partner, Mayra Cavendish. Cavendish is responsible for the deaths of Rex Mayhew, Basil Karapetian, and likely Angela as well.
Farr explained that Mayra hasn’t been fully explored this season because the storyline has been so packed. However, he promised the next part of the story will reveal more about her motivations and what makes her tick.
He believes she demonstrates both ambition and a strong sense of patriotism, and he anticipates even greater achievements from her in the future.
