Jessi Draper Ngatikaura isn’t keeping this part of her life a secret.
At the 2026 Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah in Los Angeles, a star from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives discussed her choice to openly share her recovery from plastic surgery she had last month.
Jessi explained to Keltie Knight in an interview at Live From TopMob: Grammys that she believes in being honest about things. She pointed out that not everyone achieves a youthful appearance through simply drinking water and exercising, acknowledging she was still recovering from swelling. The 33-year-old actress, who has two children – 5-year-old Jagger and 3-year-old Jovi – with her husband, Jordan Ngatikaura, said that seeing most of her fellow cast members being in their 20s also influenced her decision to have cosmetic surgery.
Being the oldest member of the cast, I need to stay energetic and keep up with the younger women, and I’m not going to pretend I don’t! It’s just how things are in real life.
Jessi shared her thoughts after documenting her recovery from several facial cosmetic surgeries, including eyelid lifts (both upper and lower) and fat grafting.
She addressed the comments she’d been receiving in a recent Instagram video, explaining, ‘It’s surprising to hear, but this isn’t the look I was going for.’ She clarified that she was still recovering and experiencing swelling, which is why she might appear different. Many commenters had expressed concern, saying she looked ‘scary’ or that she had ‘ruined her face.’
The actor from Hulu wanted to be clear that this current appearance wasn’t intentional. They explained it’s an unexpected part of their recovery, not something they were aiming for.
She explained that she wished she still looked the way she did before, but reassured everyone that her current look wouldn’t last.
“I really wish I could look like my old self again,” Jessi shared in the video. “I don’t like how I look at all. This isn’t how I want to look, and it’s really messing with my head right now.”
