With Tekken 8’s challenging second year wrapping up, players are excited for the beginning of season 3.
Bandai Namco is aiming for their strongest season of the game yet with significant gameplay updates and the addition of four new playable characters.
Whether you’re a dedicated Tekken player or coming back after a shift in the game’s popular strategies, here’s an update on the release of Tekken 8 Season 3 and what it includes.
Tekken 8 season 3 release date speculation
Tekken 8 season 3 is currently scheduled to release in March 2026.
This was confirmed via a recent press release from Bandai Namco.
We don’t have a confirmed release date yet, but last year the new season started on Monday, March 31st.
What to expect from Tekken 8 season 3
Tekken 8’s upcoming Season 3 will introduce significant gameplay adjustments designed to make the game feel more strategic and defensive, similar to how Tekken 7 played.
The developers showcased the new season in a trailer, explaining that they’ve taken a more streamlined and focused approach, prioritizing balance and intentional design.
Season 3 will begin with a clean slate for ranked play. Players will need to re-climb the ranks to reach the God of Destruction tier.
With the new season, we’re adding four fresh characters to the game over the next year, and we’re also bringing back three fan favorites.

At the start of the new season, Kunimitsu II—the daughter of the original Kunimitsu—will be back. She first appeared in Tekken 7 after taking over from her mother.
This summer, Robert Richards – or Bob, as many fans call him – will return, having originally appeared in Tekken 6.
This fall, we’re especially thrilled to welcome back a fan favorite: Roger Jr., the talented kangaroo boxer, and his mom!
Man, I was really bummed to find out Roger Jr. didn’t make it into Tekken 7! It’s crazy considering his dad, Roger, had all that… drama. I really enjoyed playing as him in both Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2, so it’s a shame we haven’t seen him since.
We don’t know who the final character for season 3 will be yet, as they’re scheduled to be introduced this winter. However, since both previous seasons ended with a new character – Clive Rosfield in season 1 and Miary Zo in season 2 – it’s likely season 3 will follow suit and add another new character to the lineup.
Whether that’s an original character or a guest character remains to be seen, however.
