Jelly Roll Compares His Food Addiction to Past Cocaine Addiction

Jelly Roll knows what it takes to make a big change.

Following his significant weight loss of over 200 pounds as part of a health journey, the singer of “Bloodline” shared his experiences with the major changes he made to his lifestyle.

Jelly Roll shared with reporters at the 2026 Grammys that he transformed his health through consistent exercise and changes to his diet. He explained that overcoming his struggles with food was similar to battling his cocaine addiction, requiring him to take it seriously and completely rethink his relationship with eating.

He explained that he overcame constant thoughts about food through a lot of self-reflection and mental effort. He hadn’t tried GLP-1 medications, but he doesn’t criticize anyone who does.

I was absolutely thrilled to see her win three Grammys last night – Best Contemporary Country Album, Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Shaboozey, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song! And she had some really inspiring words for anyone trying to lose weight, which I thought was amazing. It’s so cool to see her use her platform to talk about things like that.

He strongly urged anyone struggling with a high weight—even those over 500 pounds—to do whatever it takes to lose it, even if it means trying different approaches. He encouraged them to ignore any negativity and focus on improving their health and saving their heart.

Jelly Roll (born Jason Bradley DeFord) finally lost weight after getting sober, following years of trying different methods.

Okay, so he was on Joe Rogan, and he was talking about how he finally decided to get his act together. He said he was like, ‘This time is different!’ He wasn’t going to rush anything, he was going to really think about what he was doing, and be super deliberate with every step. It was amazing to hear him say that, like he was actually planning things out for once! I’ve been following him for years, and this felt like a total breakthrough.

He added, “I’ve dealt with drug addiction, so I was like, maybe there’s something here.”

As for what his process was like?

I’ve made a big lifestyle change, starting with my diet,” he recently shared with TopMob News. “Running has truly helped me heal. I make sure to run every single day—even on my days off. It might just be a short, easy run—a mile or a 15-minute jog at a slow pace—but I consistently get out there and run.”

The musician, who has two children – 17-year-old Bailee Ann and 9-year-old Noah – from previous relationships, has been particularly thankful for the support of his wife, Bunnie XO.

Bunnie was essential in helping me reach this point,” he said. “Everything I work on improving is about becoming a better husband and father. Losing weight was one step in that process, but I need to continue growing and striving to be better for my family every day. I’m always working to evolve.”

Okay, so Jelly Roll is doing amazing, seriously! And it got me thinking about other stars who’ve transformed their bodies and lives. I just have to see more stories like that – it’s so inspiring! Let’s dive in and check out who else has been on this journey, shall we?

The Bravo host detailed his health and fitness journey using an Ozempic-like drug.

During a September 2025 episode of his SiriusXM radio show, Andy Cohen Live, the 57-year-old revealed he’d lost a significant amount of weight over the summer by using a GLP-1 medication. He explained he’d been unhappy with his weight and, after discussing it with his doctor last year, decided to try a GLP-1. The medication was recommended not just for weight loss, but also to help with plaque in his arteries and high blood pressure, offering several health benefits. He ultimately decided it was the right choice for him.

He added that it was a big help in managing his cravings, which he’d been struggling with, and motivated him to be more consistent with his diet and exercise.

The singer shared in November 2024 that he had lost 120 pounds.

Okay, so I had to share this, because it’s huge! Jelly Roll actually talked about his personal battles on Bunnie XO’s podcast, Dumb Blonde, and he said he did it on purpose! He just wants everyone to know he’s real and that he struggles like a normal person, and he’s being so open about it. It’s amazing!

He explained that his success wasn’t because of his weight, but rather despite it – he overcame that challenge to achieve his goals.

The talk show host has been feeling healthier and has lost weight recently. After learning she was pre-diabetic, she started following her doctor’s advice, something she hadn’t consistently done for a couple of years, as she told People magazine. She added that she sticks to a high-protein diet most of the time, which benefits her health anyway.

She is a Texas girlie after all, “so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!”

The mother of River and Remington is settling into her new life in New York City and enjoying the change of pace. She joked that walking around the city is a great way to stay active, and she’s been focusing on wellness lately, trying out infrared saunas and even getting a cold plunge after friends convinced her to try it.

She decided against taking the popular weight loss drugs, even though her doctor encouraged it for two years. ‘I was scared of the side effects, especially because I have thyroid issues,’ she shared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in May 2024. While many assume it was Ozempic, she clarified she was offered a different medication – one that helps process sugar, as her body struggles to do so naturally.

Everyone’s getting health advice from a media icon who’s feeling fantastic! She’s sharing what helps her stay healthy, and it’s not just one thing – it’s a combination of regular treadmill workouts, hikes, drinking plenty of water, and eating well, as she told Entertainment Tonight.

As someone who’s spent years talking about wellness and self-acceptance, I was really moved by Oprah Winfrey’s recent comments about weight loss medication. She shared with People that having a medically approved option feels incredibly freeing – like a true gift, and something she doesn’t feel she needs to hide. For her, and I think for so many of us, it’s about finally putting an end to the shame – both from others and, importantly, from ourselves. It’s a powerful message about taking control of your health and embracing tools that can help you feel your best.

The HGTV personality demonstrated a remarkable life transformation, sharing details of his two-year fitness journey in an Instagram post from July 2023.

He explained that sometimes what feels like the right path actually requires a change in direction to help you improve. While he used to occasionally do hot yoga with his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, he realized he wasn’t following a consistent fitness plan, monitoring his diet, or getting any professional advice.

Nutritionist Sean Torbati emphasizes the importance of both healthy eating and regular exercise, like hot yoga, for overall well-being. As a father of three, he believes staying motivated and persistent is key to maintaining a good mental and physical state.

He had a turning point when he truly understood how much he wanted to improve his health and well-being – not just for himself, but for his family and future. That’s when he committed to making real changes and started working towards his goals!

Okay, so I just found out my absolute favorite View host actually used Mounjaro – you know, the medicine for diabetes – to lose weight! Apparently, she gained some weight back in 2021, and this is how she got back to looking amazing. I’m seriously obsessed with knowing all her secrets!

She revealed on a recent talk show that she weighed close to 300 pounds when she filmed the movie Till. She explained that she had been using steroids and other substances, and that the weight loss medication Mounjaro has been a key part of her weight loss journey. “That’s what I use,” she said.

The Grammy-winning artist is aware people noticed her impressive physical transformation, which she achieved through a combination of diet, exercise, and a weight loss medication called GLP-1.

In a March 2025 Instagram post, she shared that she’s feeling fantastic after making significant changes to her lifestyle following her second pregnancy. These changes included working with a dietitian and a trainer, and she also utilized medication (Mounjaro) and scientific approaches for support.

The reality star is confident in her appearance, with or without anyone’s approval. She recently addressed rumors about weight loss, stating in an Instagram post that she hasn’t had any medical procedures to lose weight, and that she dislikes having to clarify this.

Although she’s lost 100 pounds, bringing her weight down from 385 to 285, including 50 pounds after her mother, Barbara “Babs” Thore, passed away in December 2022, she’s been at 285 pounds for nearly a year now.

Simply put, she said she appreciated the compliments, but she doesn’t like focusing on bodies – her own or anyone else’s.

The actress, knowing she’s considered attractive no matter where she goes, recently shared her honest thoughts on body image in an Instagram post last February.

I saw a throwback photo of myself from 2014, and it got me thinking. I’m 5’4″ and at the time, I weighed 150 pounds. Honestly, I don’t even bother with scales anymore. It’s ridiculous how much weight we’re supposed to conform to, and for years, I let those arbitrary ‘standards’ dictate how I felt about my body. It was so unhealthy, and I’m done with that now.

Once she stopped focusing on dieting, she realized who she truly was. “I’m a kind, funny, and thoughtful person,” she shared. “Your worth isn’t determined by your size or weight – you are enough, exactly as you are. Remember who you are, and let your character shine.”

As for anyone that might not agree, she summed up, “F–k ‘em.”

The musician says he feels fantastic after losing 55 pounds, even describing himself as a rockstar. In an April 2023 Instagram post, he admitted people have been asking about his weight loss and how it affects his performances. He shared that he’s really enjoying being on stage and feels healthier than ever.

He explained that becoming a father in 2022 was a major source of motivation. He decided to give up soda and improve his diet, wanting to be healthy for his daughter for many years to come. He plans to quit smoking and cut back on alcohol next, but says he’s taking things one step at a time.

She admitted feeling a lot of pressure to lose weight after giving birth to her son, Sidney, in November 2022. She told TopMob News that losing 85 pounds became her main focus. “I became fixated on it because I just wanted to avoid people talking about my body,” she explained. “I wanted to be left alone.”

She’s not suggesting everyone follow her intense method, but it worked for her. “It took a lot of effort and wasn’t enjoyable,” she explained. “I was constantly hungry, but I’m pleased with how it turned out.”

The actor, known for his role on Roseanne, has experienced many ups and downs with his health. He used to drastically lose weight for a few months, then fall back into unhealthy habits, explaining in 2017, “I’d lose 60 or 70 pounds and then reward myself with junk food.” This time, however, he’s focused on a slower, more sustainable approach, prioritizing movement and exercise. He says he’s reached an age where staying active is essential.

He’s kept off 200 pounds by making healthy choices: he walks a lot and follows a Mediterranean diet rich in fish, vegetables, and nuts. He told Men’s Health it feels like a constant effort to stay healthy, but he embraces it because it’s worth it.

Following a type 2 diabetes diagnosis and the loss of his father and brother to heart attacks, the host of The Price Is Right decided to improve his diet and focus on healthy eating.

He told Entertainment Tonight that his secret to success was cutting out all carbohydrates. He explained he avoids everything from bread and pizza to corn and beans, and even limits himself to egg whites or Greek yogurt with a small amount of fruit for breakfast. He admitted to occasionally indulging, but generally sticks to a completely carb-free diet, not even allowing a single cracker.

And to wash it all down, “I don’t drink anything but water,” he said. “No coffee, no tea, no soda.”

After losing an incredible 440 pounds, the star of 1000-lb Sisters has achieved some amazing new experiences, all shown on her TLC show. She’s now able to fly on airplanes – even buckle the seatbelt and sit in the front seat – and enjoy rides at Disney World, plus she’s gone on a hot air balloon ride!

In a recent TikTok video, Slaton shared how much it means to her to be able to buckle her seatbelt without needing an extension. She explained that it’s a simple thing many people don’t think about, but she hadn’t been able to do it on her own for years.

You know, I’ve been following this star for a while, and honestly, hearing her talk about her journey is so inspiring. She just said she feels like she’s finally earned a reward for actually doing it – reaching her goals and truly living her life. It’s amazing to hear her say she’s finally able to say she’s really living now, after everything she’s been through.

The Vanderpump Rules star is focusing on health and well-being. Although she’s back on the Jenny Craig plan and hopes to see progress, she told TopMob News in February that her priority is being a good role model for her son. While losing weight would be a bonus, she wants to demonstrate healthy habits for her and Jax Taylor’s son, Cruz.

The future star of The Valley explained, “I really want to model a healthy lifestyle for him. Taking care of my body is a big priority, and it’s also really important for my mental well-being. I believe starting a positive, healthy journey is key for me.”

All her hard work and dedication to strength training has clearly paid off for the musician, resulting in a noticeable physical transformation.

In a 2023 interview with People magazine, the star shared how proud they are of their progress. They explained that staying fit is now a key part of their daily life, and they’ve consistently prioritized their health through regular exercise and dedication.

She’s been working incredibly hard, and mentioned she might start offering intense fitness classes, which she playfully calls ‘Hottie Bootcamp.’ These workouts are seriously challenging – think deadlifts, jump rope, lunges, and mountain climbers. In one video, she described the burn as intense, but added with a laugh, ‘You can see the results in my thighs!’

When the pandemic began in March 2020, just a few months after the Pretty Little Liars actress had her first daughter, Atlas, she admitted to TopMob News that she felt incredibly unmotivated. With everything suddenly stopping, she decided to just let go of trying.

She abandoned her workout routine and healthy eating habits, falling into a pattern of unhealthy food choices throughout 2020. This took a toll on her, and she began to miss feeling good about her body.

Okay, so I was really excited when Openfit approached me about trying their 4 Weeks of Focus program with trainer Kelsey Heenan, but I’ll admit, I was also a little hesitant at first. I always approach new fitness plans with a healthy dose of skepticism – you want to see if it actually delivers on its promises, you know?

After consistently starting her days for a month with warm water and lemon, plus a 30-minute workout – a mix of HIIT, cardio, and strength training – she realized how much better she felt. She also focused on making healthier food choices, allowing herself treats like pizza but adding some greens. She was genuinely surprised by the results. ‘I couldn’t believe how different I felt,’ she said. ‘I’ve always been active, but I’d never lifted weights that heavy before – 40 or 50 pounds!’

The fitness influencer, known online as Fat Girl Fed Up, recently shared on Instagram that she hadn’t reached her weight goal of dropping below 200 pounds. Despite this, she decided to focus on her progress and still celebrate her achievements, proving she doesn’t let minor setbacks discourage her.

She reminded herself that any step forward counts, even if it’s a small one. She acknowledged a lot of hard work this week and found comfort in the fact that losing weight takes time – she didn’t gain it all at once, so it won’t come off quickly either. Her mantra was to simply keep moving forward, regardless of the challenges.

As a lifestyle expert, I always tell people that achieving your health goals is absolutely possible. I often say to myself, ‘I will reach my personal ‘Wonderland’ – that ideal version of myself. It might take a week, or even a year, but we’ll get there. My advice? Just keep moving forward, believe in your own power, and remember it’s about progress, not perfection. That’s what truly matters.

The Queer Eye star made significant progress with their health and fitness, allowing them to pursue more challenging gymnastics skills.

In an August 2022 TikTok video showcasing their impressive weight loss, they revealed they’d been working with a nutritionist since April and had lost 35 pounds. They explained their motivation was to improve their physique for gymnastics and their career.

They did warn, though, not to expect immediate results. The author of Love That Story shared that it took three weeks of consistent effort before they noticed any difference. So, if you’re hoping to see a change, be prepared to work out and eat differently for about three weeks before you start to see results.

Before turning thirty in 2022, the former Disney Channel star decided to start a new fitness plan.

The actor, who is married to model Barbara Palvin, shared an Instagram post in April explaining that he used to be self-conscious enough to wear a shirt while swimming as a child. He decided in his late twenties to focus on changing his physique and building muscle, calling the post his ‘meat head post’.

It was a tough workout, switching between weights and kettlebells, but he’s happy with how far he’s come and plans to keep going.

Everyone has ups and downs, and life isn’t always flawless. This was clear when the actress openly shared on Instagram in January 2024 that she had regained about 13.6 kilograms after successfully reaching her goal weight of 75 kilograms in 2020.

Wilson admitted she’s been struggling to maintain her healthy habits due to a busy filming schedule. She’d previously shared how she overcame emotional eating and switched to a diet focused on protein instead of carbs, but now finds it difficult to keep up with her boxing and hiking routines.

Wilson confessed that stress caused them to gain weight, which negatively impacted their self-esteem. They acknowledged it wasn’t logical to feel this way, but admitted it was true.

Giving up his favorite beers? No problem. And dedicating himself to intense daily workouts – like the P90X program, kickboxing, and running, as he told Men’s Journal? Absolutely.

For Chris Pratt, the most challenging aspect of his 60-pound weight loss – going from his role as Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation to a superhero in Guardians of the Galaxy – was the massive amount of water he had to drink. He consumed one ounce of water for every pound he weighed each day.

“I was peeing all day long, every day,” he explained. “That part was a nightmare,”

Even though he was already somewhat known, like Cher Horowitz might say, the former star of Clueless realized people were surprised to learn he’d be playing Ant-Man, Marvel’s newest hero.

Paul Rudd recalled that when he was cast in the movie, many people were surprised, reacting with something like, ‘Paul Rudd as a superhero? Is that really happening?’ He shared this with Variety magazine in 2015.

He understood his task. He explained that he prepared like Chris Pratt does for action roles: cut out all enjoyable activities for a year, and then you can convincingly play the hero.

After having her older children, the author of the Just Eat book returned to the South Beach diet to help her feel like herself again. She told TopMob News that the high-protein plan worked quickly. “I started the program, exercised, and immediately felt better,” she said.

Before anything else, she’s prioritizing enjoying the time after giving birth. Decker, a mother of four – Vivianne, Eric Jr., Forrest, and baby Denver (born February 2024) – emphasizes, “New moms should focus on everything except losing weight. Just feed your baby, cherish those moments, and let your body heal. You’ll naturally know when you’re ready to focus on fitness. Don’t let pressure to lose weight cloud your judgment – listen to your body and wait until you feel physically ready to be active again.”

He’s been enjoying the results of his fitness journey, including a noticeable six-pack. This comes from working out for 90 minutes at a time and eating a much healthier diet – lots of lean protein and vegetables, while avoiding sugary drinks like soda, as he told People magazine.

What truly motivates him is achieving his personal goals, especially those involving the outdoors. He’s determined to get in shape so he can climb challenging rock faces in Yosemite, and he dreams of hiking the entire Pacific Crest Trail – a long-distance path stretching from Mexico to Canada and back along the American coast.

After giving birth to her daughter Kingsley in September 2022, the actress known for Twilight realized something important: her body had changed. She shared on Instagram in January 2023 that she was accepting of these changes, saying she didn’t think her body would ever be exactly as it was before, and she was learning to be comfortable with that.

If she ever feels overwhelmed, she has a coping strategy that’s just as helpful as getting back in shape after having a baby.

She told TopMob News that looking into her daughter’s eyes – whom she affectionately calls her “sweet angel” – helps her appreciate the good instead of focusing on her own flaws. She considers this a helpful trick, because it’s easy to be too hard on yourself no matter what you do.
