HBO Max is celebrating a resurgence of one of its limited series, almost four years after it first streamed. With sci-fi TV remaining popular, this series is gaining a new following despite its brief original run.
The 10-episode series Station Eleven, which originally aired from December 2021 to January 2022, is now gaining popularity on HBO Max and is currently a top 10 trending show in the United States on the Warner Bros. streaming service.
I recently finished watching “Station Eleven” on HBO Max, and it completely blew me away. It’s based on the fantastic book by Emily St. John Mandel, and Patrick Somerville did an incredible job adapting it for television. Mackenzie Davis is phenomenal as Kirsten Raymonde, a woman trying to survive in a world that’s been completely changed by a devastating flu pandemic – the story is set twelve years after everything fell apart, and follows Kirsten’s journey as one of the people still holding on.
When this article was published, the TV series Station Eleven had received overwhelmingly positive reviews, earning a 98% Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 75% audience score. The show featured performances by Himesh Patel, Nabhaan Rizwan, David Wilmot, Daniel Zovatto, Philippine Velge, and Lori Petty.
In 2022, Station Eleven received multiple Emmy nominations. These included a nomination for actor Patel as lead actor in a limited series, as well as nominations for outstanding writing and directing in the same category. The show aired on HBO Max.
Although the show ended in 2022, Mackenzie Davis, the lead actress, discussed the possibility of a second season of Station Eleven in a 2022 interview with Variety. She suggested that if the show were to return, it would likely be as an anthology series, explaining that…
Mackenzie Davis would love to be involved in an anthology series based on the book, as the author, Emily St. John Mandel, intended. The story focuses on a specific group of people and their experiences in a particular place, and there’s a whole other community living a completely different life elsewhere. Davis finds exploring that broader world more compelling than just delving into the lives of the characters we already know.
Catch Station Eleven on HBO Max.
