One of Netflix’s Most Watched Movies Ever Returns to Streaming (on a Rival Platform)

Netflix has a huge library of movies and shows, but only a select few become truly popular. Since Netflix started sharing its daily Top 10 lists in 2020 and detailed viewing numbers in 2023, viewers have been able to see exactly what everyone else is watching. Recently, after KPop Demon Hunters became a hit, one of Netflix’s most popular movies of all time became available on a different streaming service.

DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby—a surprisingly popular movie about a baby in a suit who works with his brother to save the world’s supply of love—became a huge hit on Netflix. From the summer of 2023 to 2025, it was the most-watched movie on the platform. After briefly disappearing from Netflix in August, it’s now available to stream on Peacock, joining other DreamWorks films like The Boss Baby: Family Business, which arrived on February 1st. While some parents might be surprised, the movie is once again accessible for streaming.

The Boss Baby Was a Disastrous Success

DreamWorks is usually great at making movies that both kids and adults enjoy, but The Boss Baby didn’t quite hit the mark. With a 53% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it ranks near the bottom of all DreamWorks films. The movie tries to appeal to both children and adults with its humor, but ends up feeling like a shallow and confusing story. The idea behind Baby Corp is strange and overwhelming, and the jokes mostly rely on silly baby gags. Plus, the characters aren’t very likable, which makes it hard to care about what could have been a touching story about family.

I have to admit, I was surprised by how incredibly successful The Boss Baby became! Despite what some people think of the movie’s quality, it made over $528 million worldwide on a $125 million budget and even got an Oscar nomination. It didn’t stop there – it’s become a whole franchise with more movies, shorts, and TV specials. Plus, it’s been huge on streaming! I was amazed to learn it’s been viewed over 221 million times on Netflix in just two years (and even more – over 327 million – when you include everything else in the Boss Baby world). I think the reason it resonates, especially with kids, is because of the relatable story about siblings, the funny, ironic humor, and the really bright, colorful animation. It’s a movie they actually want to watch again and again.

What’s New on Peacock?

Look, I get it – revisiting The Boss Baby might not be at the top of anyone’s list, even with it now streaming on Peacock. Thankfully, the platform is adding some genuinely good options! February started strong with the arrival of Trolls, and if you’re a Nintendo fan, The Super Mario Bros. Movie lands on February 3rd. But Peacock isn’t just for families; they’ve also got some great adult-skewing titles like the classic The ‘Burbs from 1989, the always-fun How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, and the intense Man On Fire. So there’s something for everyone!
