Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Missing: Authorities Say She Needs Medication

The search for Savannah Guthrie‘s mom is becoming more dire.

When Nancy Guthrie was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1st, officials stated she needs vital medication to stay alive.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said at a press conference on February 2nd that an 84-year-old woman is facing serious health issues and needs medication urgently. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.

He also made a point of saying that Nancy, who shares a co-host on Today and two children, Camron and Annie Guthrie, with her late husband Charles Guthrie, is mentally sharp and doesn’t have any cognitive problems.

According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this isn’t a case of dementia. She’s still very sharp. The family wants to assure everyone that she didn’t simply wander off, and any physical limitations she has are simply due to her age.

Despite being able to move around, Nancy’s family mentioned she wasn’t able to walk 50 yards without assistance.

Investigators are working to understand the events surrounding Nancy’s disappearance. Captain Nanos, who had previously stated they weren’t dismissing the possibility of a crime, explained how the investigation led them to identify a potential crime scene. Nancy was last seen on January 31st.

He stated, “We’re certain she didn’t simply leave on her own. Evidence at the location suggests something else happened – she didn’t go willingly.”

He also assured that officials are working around the clock to find Nancy.

As a long-time supporter of our local search and rescue, I know how much effort goes into every missing persons case. They always dedicate incredible resources – our amazing volunteers, the dedicated teams, and partner agencies – and yesterday was no different. I was so saddened to hear they worked non-stop, all day and all night, but unfortunately, they weren’t able to find who they were looking for.

Following the news, Savannah—who was absent from Today—shared a statement on the morning show.

Our family wants to express our sincere gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages we’ve received. Our top priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.

I was so excited to see Savannah sharing photos from her family’s upcoming trip to Palm Beach in February 2025! It looks like they’re planning some fun activities, like biking right along the beach – how amazing does that sound?

Oh my gosh, back in May 2025, Savannah posted the sweetest polaroid on Instagram – it was a throwback picture of her and her mom when she was little! The caption just melted my heart; she simply wrote, ‘I love you, mama.’ Seriously, I saved that post immediately. It was just… perfect.

Savannah shared adorable photos on social media to celebrate her daughter Vera turning 11, and wrote a sweet birthday message in August 2025 calling her ‘my beautiful girl’.

Over the 2025 holidays, Savannah posted a heartwarming photo of her family – her, her husband, and their children – all together around their Christmas tree.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE how she spent her 54th birthday last December! She shared the sweetest photos – she was with her family, and even her mom was there! It just warmed my heart to see her so happy and surrounded by loved ones. I’ve been following her for years, and moments like these are just everything!
