Police have released new details about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie.
Police investigating the disappearance of an 84-year-old woman from Tucson, Arizona, announced on February 1st that they don’t think she left home on her own accord.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, investigators now think the woman was taken from her home, likely during the night, against her will. They are currently investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.
Detectives are still at the scene and investigating all new leads as they come in, according to the sheriff’s office.
TopMob News has contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s office for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a press conference earlier today that deputies found some troubling things while searching Nancy’s home.
After examining the scene, we’ve confirmed it is a crime scene, according to Nanos. We’re now asking for the public’s help. This community has always been supportive in solving difficult cases, and we’re hoping they’ll assist us again.
Let me tell you, from what I understand, she absolutely didn’t leave on her own accord. And honestly, anyone who thinks she’s not all there is way off base – her mind is incredibly sharp, truly. I’ve spoken to people close to the situation, and they all confirm she’s as quick-witted as ever.
Nanos added, “Nancy Guthrie is of great sound mind. This is not dementia-related.”

Okay, so the police did find stuff at the scene, and honestly, it just confirms what I’ve always known – Nancy didn’t just run away. Something happened to her, they know it, and that’s what all this is really about. It’s not a runaway case, it’s something much, much worse.
Nanos also revealed that Nancy has health problems requiring medication. He explained that without this medication within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
The county sheriff said there was no immediate danger to the Today show host in Savannah, but emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing and requires further work.
Police were in communication with the 54-year-old woman and her security personnel, and are investigating all possibilities, according to Nanos.

Savannah Guthrie was missing from the February 2nd episode of Today. She shared a statement with her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, expressing gratitude for everyone’s support, prayers, and kind messages on behalf of their family.
Our top priority is still bringing Nancy home safely,” she said. “We appreciate the dedication of law enforcement and ask anyone with information about her whereabouts to please contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Savannah Guthrie was born in Melbourne, Australia, the youngest of three children. Her father, Charles Guthrie, was working there temporarily, and the family later moved to Tucson, Arizona, when she was two years old.
The Today show anchor was just sixteen years old when her father passed away from a heart attack in 1988. She’s often spoken fondly of him since then, including in 2014 when she was pregnant with her first child with her husband, Mike Feldman.
Savannah described her father as a man of surprising contrasts. He was strong and could be intimidating, but also deeply loyal, and surprisingly kind and loving when it mattered most. He was tall, warm, and had a wonderful sense of humor – the kind of person who immediately made everyone around him feel happy.
She hoped their child would inherit not only Mike’s humor, calm nature, and kindness, but also the honesty and strong moral compass of her own father, who had passed away.

Even while pursuing her education at Georgetown and building her career in Washington, D.C. and New York, Savannah has always remained close to her mother, Nancy, who has lived in Arizona for over 50 years.
Savannah described her mother, Nancy, as an incredible and admirable person when Nancy turned 70 in 2012. She told Today.com that her mom inspires everyone she meets, is very intelligent and humorous, and has strong moral principles and a lot of life experience. Plus, she’s always eager to try new and exciting things!
In 2015, Savannah took Nancy to Australia, showing her the hospital room where the famous NBC News journalist was born and their childhood home in Beaumaris.
Nancy shared on Today that she didn’t expect to ever return to Australia. She described the trip overall as “wonderful.”
“I’m amazed we managed to accomplish all of this in just three days,” Nancy said. Savannah added, “We really made the most of our time.”

Savannah enjoyed watching her mother with her own children, telling Hoda Kotb on Today in 2018 that it was a deeply meaningful experience. She realized she was finally seeing the kind of mother her own mom had been with her, appreciating the simple, everyday happiness of it all.
She was impressed with Nancy’s ability to connect with the children, saying she valued Nancy’s lively personality and unique qualities even more than she had realized.
In 2022, when Nancy celebrated her 80th birthday, her daughter Savannah publicly honored her as a brave and adventurous woman. Savannah shared that her mother faced incredible hardships with strength, without complaining, and with unwavering determination and faith. She emphasized how deeply Nancy loves her family and how her selfless sacrifices, loyalty, and strong belief in them allowed each of her children to succeed.

Nancy was reported missing on February 1st, 2026, after she was last seen at her home in Tucson the previous night.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos announced at a news conference that investigators were processing the 84-year-old woman’s home as a crime scene. He stated that while she wasn’t experiencing mental decline, she was in poor physical health.
Savannah, speaking on February 2nd, shared a statement saying her family appreciates all the support, thoughts, and prayers they’ve received. Their main priority is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts on the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Okay, so Savannah has this amazing older brother, Camron! He’s a retired military pilot – seriously, how cool is that?! He’s super private and doesn’t really like being in the spotlight, but I totally lost it when he actually showed up in Savannah’s 50th birthday photos on Instagram in 2021! I mean, a glimpse of Camron is like finding a unicorn! I screenshotted it immediately, of course.
Savannah shared a heartfelt message on December 27th, expressing her love for her husband, who she describes as her greatest treasure, and her children, whom she affectionately calls her ‘angel babies.’ She also acknowledged those who were with her at the start of her journey – her mother, Cam, and Annie – marking 50 years since a significant event.

Oh my gosh, Savannah and Annie are SO close! It’s amazing to see! Ever since Savannah started co-anchoring Today back in 2012, Annie’s been on the show a bunch of times – it’s just the sweetest thing, and you can totally tell how much they love each other!
Savannah described her sister, Annie, as an essential part of her life, like a life force. Speaking in 2017 about their close sibling connection with Hoda, she explained that Annie has always been a constant presence for her.
Annie said they were “like the sun and the moon.”
“Her sorrows are my sorrows,” Annie explained, “and her successes are my successes.”
Savannah described herself as energetic and quick to speak, but she characterized Annie as someone who was more considerate and took time to think things through.

After her marriage to Mark Orchard ended in divorce in 2009 – following four years together – Savannah found love again with Michael Feldman, who works as a communications consultant.
The couple got married in Tucson on March 15, 2014. Just two days later, Savannah announced she was expecting their first child, although many wedding guests had already heard the news during the celebration.
She appeared on Today on March 17th and shared how good she was feeling. “I’m just so happy to tell everyone,” she said, adding with a laugh, “I’m done trying to hide my stomach!”

Savannah and Mike welcomed daughter Vale on Aug. 13, 2014.
The Today show host described the baby as having blue eyes, a touch of blond hair, and incredibly chubby cheeks.
When Savannah was expecting, she shared on her blog that she and her husband liked unique baby names, describing them as a great way to start conversations.

Although many people are curious about unique baby names, Savannah and Mike chose to name their son, born on December 8, 2016, in honor of Savannah’s father who had passed away.
The mother of two shared in a video on Today a few days after Charles was born that she and Vale were overjoyed with his arrival, bringing a huge sense of relief.
Savannah has spoken openly about her difficulties trying to have another child, and she calls her son, affectionately known as Charley, a “medical miracle.”
In a 2018 interview on Today, Savannah shared her parenting philosophy: she believes the most important thing she can do for her children, Vale and Charley, is to focus on her own personal growth. She explained that being a parent means being authentic, as there’s no hiding who you truly are at home, so it’s essential to do the inner work to become the best version of yourself.
