Despite this, people on social media still shared many different opinions about the singer’s surprising and revealing outfit at the major music awards show.
Chappell caused a stir when she took off the cape of her see-through red Mugler gown, revealing that the dress was connected to nipple piercings and otherwise left her chest and back completely bare.
After the look went viral and sparked both positive and negative reactions, the 27-year-old shared her thoughts on the controversy.
She playfully commented on Instagram on February 2nd that she didn’t find the outfit particularly shocking. She actually thought it was cool and unique, and encouraged others to express themselves and have fun with their choices.
After being nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, Chappell expressed their gratitude on social media, thanking the Grammys and voters for the recognition.
Taylor Swift wasn’t just turning heads with her dress at the event. Fellow nominee Sabrina Carpenter even joked that the photographers seemed more relaxed than usual.
She noticed they weren’t as talkative as usual while they were taking pictures. “Chappell really got something going,” she remarked.

“It’s really overwhelming and frightening,” Chappell explained to Entertainment Tonight at the September 2024 event. “As someone who struggles with anxiety when people shout, the red carpet was terrifying, and I instinctively yelled back. I won’t tolerate being spoken to like that.”
