Gintama Hypes Anime Return With New Remake Movie Trailer

A remake of the popular anime Gintama is on its way, and a new trailer has given fans a sneak peek at the updated version. The series is also celebrating a major milestone – its 20th anniversary! The celebration began in 2023, marking the 20th anniversary of the original manga’s release in Shonen Jump, and will continue through 2026 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the anime adaptation.

Gintama is starting a big 20th anniversary year with a new movie based on the popular ‘Yoshiwara in Flames’ story arc. While technically a remake of the anime arc that’s been shown before, this version will feature newly animated action scenes and other exciting additions. It’s even being released in IMAX in Japan, and you can get a sneak peek below.

What to Know for Gintama’s New Remake Movie

The new Gintama movie, “Yoshiwara in Flames,” is set to premiere in Japan on February 13th. Currently, there’s no word on when it will be released internationally. The film will also be available in IMAX and features updated animation from the original anime series. It includes completely new scenes and characters not previously seen in the TV version, as shown in the trailer.

The latest Gintama movie adapts episodes 139-146 from the original anime series and features a brand-new character, Enkaku, voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi. Directed by Naoya Ando for BN Pictures, the film’s script was written by Taku Kishimoto, with character designs and chief animation direction by Shinji Takeuchi. As fans enjoy this new installment, they’re also looking forward to what the 20th anniversary of Gintama will bring.

What’s Next for Gintama?

To mark its 20th anniversary, Gintama is releasing a wave of new content, including previously released compilation films and a recent spin-off anime. But the biggest news is a significant remake with a lot of newly animated footage, offering a fresh experience for fans. Currently, however, it appears this remake will only be available in Japan.

For the past few years, Gintama has really gone above and beyond to celebrate its anniversary – it’s the kind of over-the-top celebration that only a series as unique as Gintama could pull off. Even though the original series finished airing a while ago, the franchise continues to thrive with new projects and releases.
