Miranda Kerr Shares Rare Insight Into Breakup With Orlando Bloom

Miranda Kerr is modeling her ideal behavior for former couples.

The Victoria’s Secret model openly discussed her three-year marriage to Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a 15-year-old son named Flynn. She shared the challenges they faced near the end of their relationship and how they worked to overcome them while continuing to raise their son together.

Okay, so Miranda finally talked about it on her podcast, We Need to Talk, and it just broke my heart, but also, I totally get it. She said they both realized they weren’t making each other better, and when they decided to split, she told him – HIM! – that they absolutely had to prioritize Flynn above everything else. Seriously, can she BE any more of a devoted mom? It just… it makes me love her even more, honestly. It was February 3rd, by the way, I need to remember everything about this.

After six years together, including three years of marriage, the couple – who are now 42 and 49 – separated in 2013. As they transitioned to co-parenting, they focused on personal growth and, importantly, forgiving each other.

“Forgiving each other,” she added, “forgiving ourselves, creating peace within the situation.”

After their divorce, prioritizing their son Flynn’s well-being came naturally to the former couple, and they easily agreed to focus on his needs rather than their own feelings.

She added, “Let’s fully forgive each other and truly make peace. Holding onto resentment just weighs you down.”

As the founder of Kora pointed out, a child will always have two parents, and that relationship lasts a lifetime.

Understanding this, Miranda wanted to create a relationship with Orlando that was balanced and calm.

It wasn’t always simple, though. The model explained she struggled to establish personal limits with her ex, Johnny Depp, until she married Evan Spiegel. They now have three children together: Hart, 7, Myles, 6, and Pierre, who is nearly two years old.

She explained that her husband is good at setting personal limits. When she and Orlando first separated, she tended to be overly accommodating and eager to make him happy. Even when Orlando made last-minute requests – and he admitted he often did – she would always try to adjust her plans to suit him.

When Evan joined the team, he encouraged Miranda to confidently set limits and express her needs. She directly told Orlando, “I apologize for the change of plans, but we had already organized things based on our original schedule.”

Fortunately, she and the father of her 5-year-old daughter, Daisy (whose other mother is Katy Perry), are doing well now.

She said that she and Orlando are close friends. He recently thanked her for wishing him a happy birthday, adding that he appreciated her being such a wonderful mother to their son, Flynn, and a great friend to him. He also expressed how grateful he is to have her in his life.

“I agree,” she continued, “and I told him, ‘Thank you for being you and for being such a great father to Flynn.’”

For a look at what more stars have had to say about co-parenting after a split, keep reading.

Despite ending their romantic relationship in 2023, the Grammy-winning artist and their Swedish-Syrian partner still work together to raise their children, Lucia and Renn.

Jwan shared with Attitude in September 2025 that they have a truly great relationship with their ex-partner. They’ve established a peaceful and stable co-parenting arrangement, living just ten minutes apart and staying in touch every other day. Their children are their top priority, and they both love them very much.

He described it as more than just an experience – it’s a lifestyle, and a truly wonderful one at that.

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green, parents to Noah, Bodhi, and Journey, prioritize their children’s well-being as they navigate co-parenting. Brian Austin Green explained to TopMob News in April 2024 that their main focus is always ensuring the kids have a positive experience, acknowledging that a breakup will inevitably impact them, but they can control how it does. He emphasizes the importance of choosing your battles, recognizing that disagreements that led to their separation won’t magically disappear when co-parenting. They must shift their focus from personal feelings to what’s best for the children.

Megan Fox agrees, stating on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2023 that it’s crucial to never speak negatively about the other parent, even subtly. She believes accepting and loving their father is essential because he’s a fundamental part of who their children are – in their DNA and their very being. Their divorce was finalized in 2022, two years after they initially filed.

Josh Duhamel and Fergie are successfully co-parenting and maintaining a positive relationship. Duhamel recently shared on The Jess Cagle Show how supportive Fergie has been, even welcoming his wife, Audra Mari, into the family. He noted it could have been a difficult situation, but Fergie has handled it with grace.

Duhamel also revealed Fergie was genuinely happy for him and Audra when they announced their pregnancy with their son, Shepherd, who was born in January 2024. Shepherd joined Duhamel’s son Axl, whom he shares with Fergie.

Duhamel emphasized Fergie’s kind nature and her excitement for his growing family. He expressed gratitude for their civil co-parenting relationship, especially considering his divorce from Fergie was finalized in 2019, following their 2017 separation. He’s thankful things have worked out so well.

Irina Shayk, who has a daughter named Lea with Bradley Cooper, doesn’t really like the idea of ‘co-parenting.’ In a 2021 interview with ELLE, she explained that when she’s with Lea, she’s fully a mother, and when Lea is with her dad, he’s fully her dad. She simply sees it as parenting.

Even though Irina and Bradley ended their four-year relationship in 2019, they’ve remained friendly. Despite their busy lives, they continue to take family vacations, spend time together in New York, and support each other.

In 2023, Irina told the magazine that Bradley is “the best father Lea and I could dream of,” and that their successful arrangement works because they both make it a priority.

Finding a co-parenting groove takes time, as Mariah Carey knows well. Fortunately, she and Nick Cannon, parents to twins Moroccan and Monroe, have established a positive routine. Cannon described their relationship as a strong friendship, praising Carey for the lessons she’s taught him and calling her family. Carey also expressed pride in how they’ve navigated co-parenting since their divorce in 2014, ensuring their children enjoy time with both parents. Beyond Moroccan and Monroe, Nick Cannon has several other children: Zion, Mixolydian, Zillion Heir, and Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; Golden “Sagon,” Powerful Queen, and Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell; Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole; and Halo Marie and the late Zen with Alyssa Scott.

Oh my gosh, can we please talk about Gwyneth and Chris? I’m obsessed! They just… they redefined breaking up, honestly. Remember when they announced their split and came up with ‘consciously uncoupling’? It was brilliant! Gwyneth explained it so well on Drew Barrymore’s show – she said it was hard, like really hard to be nice to Chris when you’re getting divorced, but they were both so committed to Apple and Moses. She talked about forcing themselves to have family dinner even when they didn’t want to, just taking a deep breath and remembering their promise. It’s just…so mature! And she’s said so many times that they’ll always be family, forever. She admitted it’s not always perfect, they have good days and bad days, but they’re still working towards love and unity for the kids. It’s amazing to me that they can still appreciate the good things about each other even after everything. Seriously, relationship goals, even in divorce!

Following their divorce in 2022, Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady have been navigating the challenges of co-parenting. Gisele admitted in a 2024 interview with Robin Roberts that some days are harder than others, but her and Tom’s children, Benjamin and Vivian, are smart and adaptable. She focuses on controlling her own reactions and allowing them to adjust to having different rules in each home. She believes it’s beneficial for the kids to experience two different worlds and learn from both parents. Tom echoed this sentiment, stating that they are both committed to raising all their children – including Jack, his son with Bridget Moynahan – with love, kindness, empathy, and strong values, even as parenting evolves from previous generations.

Ben Affleck, having played a superhero himself, recognizes one in his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. He considers her a superhero mom, especially given their three children – Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. Affleck, who divorced Garner in 2015 after ten years of marriage, told TopMob News in 2016 that she’s an amazing mother and he feels lucky to co-parent with her, always prioritizing their children. Jennifer Lopez, who married Affleck in 2022 before filing for divorce in 2024, also acknowledged Garner’s parenting skills, previously telling Vogue that Jennifer is a fantastic co-parent and that she and Ben work well together.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik separated in 2021, but they’ve successfully continued to co-parent their daughter, Khai. Zayn shared in a 2023 interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast that they have a strong relationship focused on Khai’s well-being, and things are going well. Gigi told The Sunday Times that prioritizing a child’s happiness is key for parents in similar situations, as you’ll have a lifelong connection with the other parent. She added that she’s happy Khai has the opportunity to spend time with both of them.

Khloe Kardashian is continuing to co-parent with her ex, Tristan Thompson, despite past difficulties. She’s admitted it’s challenging to maintain a positive relationship with him – especially considering his history of infidelity – for the sake of their children, True and Tatum.

In an interview with tmrw in January 2024, Khloe explained that it’s hard to be friendly with someone you’re angry at, particularly in front of their kids. She’s had to learn to manage her emotions and avoid impulsive reactions she might later regret. However, she believes it’s important to always strive to be a kind person.

Ultimately, Khloe wants her children to have a strong bond with Tristan, who is also a father to Prince (with Jordan Craig) and Theo (with Maralee Nichols). She believes that if a father wants to be involved in his children’s lives, she shouldn’t stand in the way.

Even though Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr separated in 2013, they continue to successfully co-parent their son, Flynn. This includes a friendly relationship with both of their current partners: Orlando’s fiancée, Katy Perry, and Miranda’s husband, Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snapchat.

Miranda has spoken fondly of Katy, expressing her happiness that Orlando found love again. She emphasizes that the most important thing is for Flynn to have happy parents, and she’s grateful for everyone’s positive relationship.

Despite busy schedules and growing families – Orlando and Katy now have a daughter named Daisy Dove, while Miranda and Evan have three sons, Hart, Myles, and Pierre – they all make an effort to come together for important events. Miranda explained that they prioritize Flynn’s well-being and are always willing to compromise to create the best possible family dynamic.

Kate Hudson believes it’s possible to maintain good relationships with her exes, Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy, unlike some relationships that fade away. She explained to The Sunday Times in 2022 that she and Chris simply check in with each other periodically, especially as they co-parent their son, Ryder.

She described Matt, father to her son Bingham, as a “wonderful” co-parent. Kate feels that even after a romantic relationship ends, the love doesn’t disappear completely. It can evolve into a different kind of love, allowing ex-partners to enjoy time together focused on their child.

Kate is also a mother to daughter Rani, with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa. She feels her family, though unconventional, is thriving. “The unit I’ve created with three children and three different fathers is a seriously strong one, and it’s ours,” she said.

It can be challenging for divorced parents to get along, but Anna Faris says her relationship with her ex-husband, Chris Pratt, his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, and their children is improving. Faris, who shares son Jack with Pratt, told People magazine in 2022 that everyone is getting closer, and she really appreciates that. She feels both families are protective of each other and values their support.

Faris described Katherine as “awesome” and praised her for being a great presence in Jack’s life. She admires how Katherine manages everything, including raising her own children – daughters Lyla and Eloise, and son Ford – alongside caring for Jack.

Now married to Michael Barrett, Faris says things feel much more peaceful as time has passed. She’s happy with how the blended family is working and relieved to have moved past any lingering negativity.

It’s helpful when co-parents agree, and Mel B says it took time for her and Eddie Murphy to build that kind of connection.

Mel B, reflecting on past difficulties with PTSD and controlling behavior, explained to Us Weekly in May 2025 that it was challenging to build a strong relationship with Eddie while she was going through those experiences. She said she gradually managed to improve things.

However, Mel B, who has a teenage daughter, Angel, with Eddie, noted that their friendship has actually grown stronger in recent years.

She shared that Angel often visits Eddie, they enjoy spending time together, and even go on vacation as a family. She praised Eddie as a dedicated father to his ten children.

Just because the TV show The O.C. was full of drama doesn’t mean Rachel Bilson and her ex, Hayden Christensen, have a difficult co-parenting relationship. Bilson, who shares daughter Briar Rose with Christensen, told People magazine in 2024 that things are going well. She said their daughter is thriving and has plenty of support from both sides.
