2025 was an amazing year for anime, with popular shows like Solo Leveling and Dandadan continuing their stories. Several highly-rated series from Shonen Jump manga, including Sakamoto Days and Witch, also made their anime debuts and quickly gained a large fanbase. Shonen Jump is known for its diverse range of stories, especially action-packed series, and many new anime adaptations premiere each year. 2026 is already looking promising with the arrival of You and I Are Polar Opposites, and the rest of the year promises even more exciting releases.
When Kyoto Animation announced the RuriDragon anime in December 2025, it generated a lot of excitement. However, we still don’t know exactly when it will be released. This list focuses only on anime series adapted from manga published in Shonen Jump and that are planned for release this year.
6) Marriagetoxin

Created by Joumyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda, Marriagetoxin is a standout action comedy featured in WSJ. It’s celebrated for its engaging characters and genuinely funny scenes. The story follows Hikaru Gero, a highly skilled hitman from a centuries-old family. Because of his dangerous profession, Hikaru has no social life. Everything changes when his family demands he marry and have a child. He proposes a fake marriage to Mei Kinosaki, a notorious con artist who specializes in marriage scams, with the condition that she cooperate if she wants to avoid trouble.
5) Akane-banashi

Created by Yuki Suenaga and illustrated by Takamas Moue, this series from Weekly Shonen Jump centers around Rakugo, a traditional Japanese art of storytelling. Akane Osaki, a high school student, is determined to become a skilled Rakugo performer. She’s driven by both a lifelong dream and a desire to find out why her father was unexpectedly dismissed from his position years ago. He was a highly respected performer on the verge of achieving the prestigious shin’uchi rank when he was suddenly let go. The story follows Akane as she navigates this male-dominated world and fights to clear her father’s name.
4) Kill Blue

Tadatoshi Fujimaki created this funny and action-packed series, mixing the excitement of a spy thriller with the humor of a high school comedy. It centers around Juuzou Oogami, a highly skilled 40-year-old assassin who mysteriously transforms into a 16-year-old boy after a mission. Now, he must go undercover as a high school student, trying to figure out what caused the transformation and how to return to his adult body while pretending to be a teenager.
3) Black Torch

Tsuyoshi Takaki’s manga, Black Torch, ran in Jump SQ magazine from 2016 to 2018, but was cut short after only 19 chapters. The story centers on Jiro Azuma, a 17-year-old boy who is ostracized because he can talk to animals. He’s trying to live a quiet life with his grandfather, but constantly finds himself in trouble, frustrating his grandfather who wants him to honor the Azuma family legacy. When Jiro saves a cat—which turns out to be a strange and powerful creature—he’s drawn into a fight against supernatural forces.
2) Psyren

Originally a manga series created by Toshiaki Iwashiro, Psyren first appeared in 2007 and is now being adapted into an anime after a long wait. The story centers around Ageha Yoshina, a high school student who runs errands for money. When he finds a mysterious card with the word Psyren on it, he holds onto it. After a friend disappears after finding the same card, Ageha is suddenly thrust into a dangerous game within a bizarre new world.
1) Super Psychic Policeman Chojo

Shun Numa’s comedy manga was cancelled in June 2025, but surprisingly, an anime adaptation was announced just three months later. The story takes place in a world where people with psychic abilities – like telepathy and the power to read objects – work as detectives. While the most powerful psychics often join federal agencies, others become police officers, using their limited abilities to help their communities. The series centers on the everyday adventures of Meguru Chojo, a police officer stationed in West Shinjuku, and his colleague, Nao Ippongi.
