Savannah Guthrie is issuing a plea.
On February 4th, Today show host Savannah Guthrie, along with her siblings Camron and Annie Guthrie, released a sad video message. They were sharing news about their mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, who had been missing since February 1st from her home in Arizona.
Savannah shared in an Instagram post that her mother is the center of their family and a source of comfort. Sadly, her mother is very ill, living with constant pain and a fragile heart. She urgently needs medication to manage her pain and stay alive.
The news anchor then spoke directly to whoever might be holding Nancy, letting them know the family is aware that police are looking into ransom demands sent to news organizations.
“We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media,” she said. “As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her.”
In the clip, her sister Annie also shared an emotional message about the matriarch.
Annie read from a letter: ‘Our lives feel dim without her light. Nancy is our mother, and she’s like a guiding star for us. She always finds joy, even when things are difficult, and she keeps choosing happiness after everything she’s been through.’
She reminded everyone that we’re all just human and still need our mothers. “Mom, if you can hear me, please come home. We miss you so much,” she said.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says investigators are still working to find Nancy, who went missing from her home in Tucson. They’ve collected DNA evidence from the home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
I’m still obsessively checking for updates, and honestly, it’s so frustrating! The police said on February 4th – I saw it on their social media, of course – that they haven’t found anyone they’re looking at as a suspect yet. They’re still talking to everyone who might have known Mrs. Guthrie, trying to piece things together. It’s just… agonizing waiting for any news!

In the clip, her sister Annie also shared an emotional message about the matriarch.
Annie read from a letter, her voice filled with emotion. It spoke of their mother, Nancy, as a guiding light in their lives. The letter explained that Nancy always chooses to find happiness, even after experiencing significant hardship and loss.
She reminded everyone that they’re just ordinary people who still need their mother. “Mom, if you can hear this, please come home. We miss you so much,” she said.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says investigators are still working to find Nancy, who went missing from her Tucson home. They’ve collected DNA evidence from the home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
According to a statement released on February 4th, investigators haven’t identified any suspects or people of interest in the case. Detectives are still interviewing anyone who may have known Mrs. Guthrie.

Oh my gosh, I’m so worried! I’ve been following this story all day. Apparently, Joan Guthrie, who’s 84 and the amazing mom of Annie, Camron, and Savannah, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona on January 31st around 9:30 at night. The police are involved, and I’m just hoping they find her safe! It’s just… awful to think about.

Police confirmed to Today that Nancy, age 84, was reported missing by her family on February 1st. A friend noticed she hadn’t been at church that morning and let her family know. After searching her property for about an hour, her children contacted the authorities around noon to report her missing.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
We don’t usually involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details emerging from the house are deeply troubling,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was particularly unusual based on what officers described and what we discovered at the scene.
“This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide detectives are called out when there’s a death, a body to investigate. In this case, we sent them based solely on what the surveyors reported.”

After looking into what happened, officials stated they think a crime occurred at Nancy’s house.
As a longtime supporter of our local police, I was really struck by what Officer Nanos said at the press conference on February 2nd. They confirmed they’ve officially identified a crime scene after carefully examining the area. What I appreciate most is their trust in us, the community. They’ve always said we’re quick to help solve difficult cases, and they’re asking for our help again now – and I know we’ll deliver.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble walking—she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own—which led him to suspect something wasn’t right about her disappearance.
He stated definitively that she didn’t simply leave on her own, pointing to other evidence at the location suggesting she didn’t leave voluntarily.

The search for Nancy is still ongoing, and officials have stressed that she requires daily medication to stay healthy, and she probably doesn’t have it with her.
During the February 2nd press conference, Nanos explained that the patient is an 84-year-old woman with health problems who urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything – to please come forward. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mental sharpness remains excellent.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this isn’t related to dementia. She’s very sharp and the family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander off; any physical limitations are simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.
In a statement to NBC’s morning show on February 2nd, she expressed her family’s gratitude for all the support, prayers, and kind messages they’ve received. Their priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah Guthrie learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately voiced their support.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally close to Nancy and expressed her affection for her.
My heart goes out to Savannah and her family right now. I’m sending all my prayers and positive thoughts their way, hoping they find strength during this difficult time. It’s just awful, and they’re constantly in my thoughts.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show truly highlighted the community’s strength when it asked viewers to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the sheriff’s department’s phone number, stating that she was missing.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, also responded to the surprising announcement. She shared a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a simple Instagram post on February 2nd, Hoda included only a red heart and praying hands emoji.

Police have marked Nancy’s home in Arizona as a crime scene, but they say there’s no reason for the public to be worried.
At a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but emphasized that the investigation was still ongoing and required significant effort.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to make sure she’s okay.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
I can’t believe this is happening! The Sheriff’s Office said they think she was taken from her house, maybe even while she was sleeping! They’re saying it could be a kidnapping, an actual abduction… it’s just awful. They’ve been investigating since February 2nd, and I’m just glued to every update, hoping they find her. It’s terrifying to think about what might have happened.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
Oh my gosh, she posted about it! It was on Instagram, February 2nd, and it just… got me. She wrote about believing in prayer, and it wasn’t just saying it, you know? It was about all of us praying together, filled with love and hope. She really emphasized believing in goodness and in people, but most importantly, she said we have to believe in Him. It’s just… everything I needed to hear. It’s so her, so pure and full of faith. I saved the post, obviously.
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would offer comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts and unwavering trust in the Lord in perfect peace.’ She felt it was a timeless message for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
We collected samples and are hoping they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re looking for, he told NBC News in a report on Today on February 3rd.
