2026 promises several exciting game releases, and it’s shaping up to be a major year for Capcom. While many anticipate Resident Evil Requiem, it’s actually not the most popular upcoming game in Japan, where Capcom is based. Recent polls show Resident Evil Requiem in third place, with Pokémon Pokopia at number two, and another game from Capcom taking the top spot.
Capcom first revealed Pragmata, a new sci-fi action game for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, back on June 11, 2020. After six years of development, the game is almost here! It will launch on April 24th for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and also Nintendo Switch 2. Fans in Japan are particularly looking forward to its release.
Famitsu Readers’ Most-Wanted Game
Recent surveys of Famitsu readers show that Pragmata is their most anticipated game for 2026, and it’s consistently been at the top of the charts. While the Japanese gaming community is known for being dedicated, this strong interest suggests the game could be very successful. With Capcom’s marketing power behind it, strong sales are almost guaranteed. However, its popularity in the US and Europe will be key to determining if Pragmata becomes one of the year’s best-selling titles overall. It’s already looking like a top performer in Japan.
We were very impressed with the Capcom game in our recent preview. The fact that Capcom allowed previews suggests they’re confident in the final product, and that usually means a successful launch. It seems they’re taking their time to polish the game, which is a good sign. We’ve seen too many promising games released with problems, like Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red and No Man’s Sky by Hello Games, and a polished release is a much better approach.
