EastEnders’ Kellie Bright delivers her verdict on Linda Carter and Max Branning’s romantic future

Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter on EastEnders, has talked about the possibility of a long-term relationship between her character and Max Branning (played by Jake Wood).

These two characters share a complex past on the BBC One soap. They had a brief affair six years ago when Linda was experiencing problems in her marriage with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).

Linda decided to get back together with Mick, ending things with Max, who then left Walford in 2021. Later, Linda found out she was pregnant with Max’s daughter, Annie (now played by Lois Hawkins). Mick stepped up and raised Annie as his own until his death in 2022.

Last December, when Max came back to Walford, Linda told him the truth about Annie. They’ve become friends, even after Max drunkenly tried to kiss her – a move he quickly regretted.

Recently, a New Year’s Day episode showed a glimpse into the future (2027), and it suggested Linda might be one of several women Max could end up marrying.

I was really curious to know if Kellie Bright thinks Linda will end up with Max! She was at The TopMob Covers Party 2026, but naturally, she wasn’t giving anything away about their future. She’s good at keeping secrets, that one!

She admitted she couldn’t picture a future with the person they were discussing, but added that anything could happen later in the year.

Talking about working with Jake Wood this time, she explained it was a different experience than working with Max before. When Linda and Max were a couple, filming took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, so she and Jake only worked together briefly and had to maintain social distancing.

It’s been great finally working with him. He’s a truly talented actor, and I’m really enjoying our scenes together. As for the future of the project, I honestly have no idea where things are headed – I’m finding out as I go, just like everyone else!

Linda was a key figure in the famous flash-forward to 2023, which featured The Six, and was eventually revealed to be the one who killed Keanu Taylor on Christmas Day in 2026. This means the recent flash-forward episode wasn’t the first time she’s been involved in one!

Kellie playfully said she’s happy to be involved and finds the whole experience really exciting. She joked that she’d only participate if the show jumped ahead in time, but clarified she was just kidding and is genuinely thrilled to be a part of it.

Linda’s life is still full of challenges, as her son Ollie Carter is being bullied at school. Adding to this, her unpredictable old classmate, Bea Pollard (played by the hilarious Ronni Ancona), has just arrived in town.

Kellie shared her admiration for Ronni, saying she’s been a role model since childhood. Seeing Ronni on television, Kellie always thought she was amazing, and now she loves working with her. She described Ronni as hilarious, talented, and a wonderful person to be around.

“I love doing scenes with her. I’m loving that she’s on board.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Bea will end up being a thorn in Linda’s side, however…
