Besides Pokemon Pokopia, another game about rebuilding a city without humans is coming in March 2026. Timberborn, a very popular city-building and colony management game with a unique twist, is officially leaving Early Access after four years of overwhelmingly positive feedback on Steam. In Timberborn, beavers are working to restore the land in a world where humans no longer exist.
Mechanistry announced that Timberborn will officially launch version 1.0 on March 5th. A new trailer, narrated by Shaun Dooley (known for his work on Elden Ring), also revealed more about the game’s story. Players can try out a public test build on Steam now to get a preview of the upcoming changes.
Timberborn To Get Full 1.0 Launch in March 2026
Timberborn first became available to play in September 2021 and has become increasingly popular with fans of city-building and automation games, especially those who enjoy Satisfactory. It has consistently received very positive reviews, with players comparing the gameplay to a blend of Minecraft and SimCity. Even in its early stages of development, players have found the game to be well-designed, offering both challenging depth and easy-to-learn management. Some players have even called it the best game on Steam!
Timberborn is a fun city-building game where you create a new society… for beavers! Players choose a beaver faction, each with its own unique buildings and technology, and then get to work. The game world changes with the seasons, creating new challenges, and you can reshape the land and build upwards to create an automated base. Plus, if you’re curious, the game even includes giant beaver robots to help with tasks!

Since its release on Steam, Timberborn has received seven large updates, adding tons of new content for players. A key reason players love the game is the developers’ dedication to incorporating feedback throughout the Early Access period. Many reviews highlight the team’s passion and commitment to making Timberborn the best colony simulation possible. The full 1.0 version of the popular game launches on Steam March 5th, bringing even more improvements and content.
The complete version 1.0 will be released on March 5th. If you’d like to try it out early, an experimental version is available on Steam now – just switch to the experimental branch. Keep in mind this early version is still in development and will be updated regularly before the official 1.0 launch. Currently, version 1.0 is planned for release on PC through Steam.
Have you tried playing Timberborn? If not, will you be getting it when the full version (1.0) releases on Steam? Share your thoughts and join the discussion in the ComicBook Forum!
