PlayStation is adding another game to the Horizon series, which will be available on both PS5 and PC. Following the release of Horizon Forbidden West in 2022, PlayStation has been growing the Horizon universe with different games like the VR experience Horizon Call of the Mountain, the family-friendly action game LEGO Horizon Adventures, and the soon-to-be-released mobile game Horizon Steel Frontiers. This new project is a live-service game, meaning it will be continuously updated with new content.
Guerrilla Games recently announced Horizon Hunters Gathering with a first look trailer. The studio describes it as a co-op action game where up to three players can team up as Hunters to defend a world from dangerous machines. Unlike the main Horizon games, Hunters Gathering won’t be an open-world experience. Instead, players will embark on specific missions to defeat machines. While it features familiar weapons and gameplay from the Horizon series, the game’s structure is similar to titles like Dauntless or Monster Hunter.

When Will This New Horizon Game Release?
Guerrilla Games shared several details today about Horizon Hunters Gathering, explaining how the game will work. However, they haven’t announced when it will be released and emphasized that development is still in its early stages. For now, interested players can sign up for a closed playtest happening at the end of February. You can register for the beta on PlayStation’s website here.
It’s currently unclear when Horizon Hunters Gathering will be released, as there’s no announced launch timeframe. When it does become available, it will launch on both PlayStation 5 and PC at the same time, and players on both platforms will be able to play together. Sony is likely hoping this game will be as successful as their other live-service title, Helldivers 2.
