A recent rumor suggests that Square Enix might remake the very first Kingdom Hearts game, potentially releasing it in 2027. Currently, Kingdom Hearts 4 is the only confirmed game in development. While announced in 2022, Square Enix hasn’t shared many updates about KH4 recently. However, before KH4 is released, there’s talk that the original Kingdom Hearts could be getting a remake.
According to video game leaker Extas1s, Square Enix is planning a remake of the original Kingdom Hearts for current gaming systems. The remake is reportedly aiming for a release in early 2027, with Kingdom Hearts 4 expected to follow later that year. Extas1s claims to have seen pictures of the remake, which will feature updated graphics while maintaining the original game’s overall style. The remake is also rumored to include a world based on The Jungle Book, as well as new gameplay sections where players can control Riku.
How Legit Is This Kingdom Hearts Rumor?
Okay, so everyone’s buzzing about a potential new Kingdom Hearts game, and honestly, it’s tough to say how likely it is. It’s weird, right? Kingdom Hearts is huge for Square Enix, so why haven’t they done more with it lately? But then you look at what Square’s been up to – they’re all about remakes now. Plus, the original Kingdom Hearts is getting pretty old – it’s 24 years old! – so a fresh, updated version would actually make a lot of sense.
Okay, so this leaker, Extas1s, has been right sometimes, but wrong other times, so I’m taking everything they’ve said with a grain of salt. A Kingdom Hearts remake sounds awesome in theory, but honestly, it’s tough to say if Square Enix is actually working on it right now. I’m excited about the possibility, but I’m not holding my breath until we get an official announcement.
We still don’t have a release date for Kingdom Hearts 4, the latest installment in the popular action-RPG series. Hopefully, Square Enix will share more information about when the game will be released sometime in 2026.
