The latest installment in the Nioh series, Nioh 3, is now available on both PlayStation 5 and PC at the same time – a first for the franchise. It’s already proving to be the most popular Nioh game on Steam, with over 70,000 players playing at the same time, and those numbers are still rising as the weekend begins.
Compared to the original Nioh, which had a peak of 10,649 players playing at the same time, Nioh 2 was much more popular, reaching 41,325 concurrent players. Nioh 2 likely benefited from positive reviews of the first game, even though it had some technical problems when it first launched. While Nioh 3 hasn’t yet become as popular as Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (which peaked at 75,906 players), it’s steadily gaining traction.
Okay, so the game isn’t a total disaster performance-wise – it’s definitely not Team Ninja’s worst. Most players seem pretty happy, with about 77% giving it a thumbs up. But, a lot of us are running into problems, even if our PCs should easily handle it. I’ve been reading reports of people getting bad performance even on Low settings at 1080p, and one guy said he was having issues despite having a seriously powerful setup – a Core i7-14700K and an RTX 4060 Ti! It’s frustrating when you meet the requirements and it still doesn’t run well.
We’ll share more information about upcoming updates and improvements soon. If you’re interested in learning more about Nioh 3, you can read our review, where we gave it a 9/10 score.
