star Caleb McLaughlin may have just confirmed the tragic fate of Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven.
According to Deadline, Caleb McLaughlin hinted at Eleven’s fate during a recent appearance on The View. When asked about what happens to Eleven in the Stranger Things finale, he said, “I think she’s… gone.” He then clarified, explaining that he meant “Rest in peace, Eleven.” McLaughlin and the Duffer Brothers (Ross and Matt) had already discussed this with Millie Bobby Brown, but he believes revealing their intentions would lessen the impact of the ending.
Millie Bobby Brown’s character, Eleven, is central to the story of the popular science-fantasy series created by the Duffer Brothers. In the final episode of the fifth season, titled “The Rightside Up,” Eleven appeared to give her life to stop the secret research that involved people like herself and Henry Creel, also known as Vecna.
Eleven’s fate sparked discussion among fans, and even within the show itself – Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, suggested a more hopeful outcome. While it’s not confirmed that Eleven survived the series, Millie Bobby Brown seems to be the one with the inside scoop.
In early January, the creators talked about how the series would end. One of them explained that leaving the ending open to interpretation is intentional. They believe explaining the writers’ intentions would diminish the impact of the finale. They mentioned having recently discussed this with Millie, but want to avoid revealing too much about their thought process while writing it.
Duffer clarified that Millie Bobby Brown knows exactly what happens to her character in the final season of Stranger Things, but she won’t be sharing any spoilers. He advised fans not to bother asking.
What’s Next for Stranger Things on Netflix?
Even though the main Stranger Things story has finished, I’m so excited that we’re still getting more from the world and characters we love! A new spinoff is coming, and it’s set between seasons 2 and 3, which I think is a perfect time to explore more of their adventures. The voice cast is fantastic too – Luca Diaz will be Mike, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Elisha Williams as Lucas, Ben Plessala as Will, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, and even Brett Gipson is returning as Hopper! I can’t wait to hear them all again.
You can currently watch Stranger Things on Netflix. And keep an eye out for Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, which is expected to be released later this year.
