The game ARC Raiders has quickly become a hit, selling over 12 million copies in just a few months. While many developers would rush to create sequels after such success, Embark Studios is choosing to take its time. The game’s popularity actually gives them the freedom to carefully plan and develop their future projects.
In a recent interview, Embark’s leader shared that the studio is working on two new games, but there’s no rush to release them. This news does lead to questions about the company’s plans after ARC Raiders, and what kind of games they’ll create next. While a sequel to ARC Raiders is possible, Embark seems more likely to focus on a different science fiction project.
Embark Is Working On Two New Games

Embark, the company behind the popular game ARC Raiders, is already developing two new titles, leading players to wonder if a sequel to ARC Raiders is in the works. Released in 2025, ARC Raiders quickly became a huge hit, attracting a large player base and consistently ranking as one of the most-played games on Steam – and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This success has provided Embark with significant financial stability, as CEO Patrick Soderlund explained to IGN, giving the team a level of security rarely seen in the game development industry.
This allows the team to keep improving ARC Raiders and The Finals, and also work on new games without needing to launch a massive hit immediately. Soderlund shared that they have two games in development, though he didn’t share specifics. The continued support for ARC Raiders and The Finals indicates those games are expected to be played for a long time. With ARC Raiders being so popular, many fans are wondering if one of these new games might be a sequel.
Embark Doesn’t Need To Make An ARC Raiders Sequel So Soon

Considering the success and revenue of ARC Raiders, it’s easy to imagine the developers are already thinking about a sequel. However, Embark doesn’t necessarily need to make another game right now. ARC Raiders has a solid foundation for adding lots of different experiences, and its graphics still look great, meaning a major visual overhaul isn’t needed anytime soon. Although some players have expressed concerns about the content roadmap, it’s clear Embark has long-term plans for the game. This suggests a sequel might happen eventually, but there’s no immediate pressure to release one.
As a fan, I’m really excited about this news! It sounds like the developers have more control over what they do next, which is awesome. I’ve also heard about Nexon, the company behind them, teaming up with Blizzard for something new with StarCraft. That universe would be a fantastic place for them to go next, especially if they could use what they learned making ARC Raiders and apply it to a shooter-style StarCraft game. But honestly, while a StarCraft game would be amazing, I’m also hoping they’ll surprise us with something completely original. That could be even more exciting, because it feels like they’re capable of making something truly groundbreaking like ARC Raiders again. This way, they can keep improving ARC Raiders and still create a totally fresh experience for us all.
