Recently, previews of Pokemon Pokopia have been released, including my own impressions after playing. The general feeling among those who’ve tried it is very positive. It could have easily been a simple attempt to capitalize on the popularity of relaxing games, but it seems to offer well-developed features and enjoyable gameplay. With all the good reviews, Pokopia is attracting players who weren’t initially interested. So, what exactly is this new Pokemon life simulation game about?
We’ve had a chance to see several trailers for Pokemon Pokopia, and they’ve given us a basic idea of the game’s story and how it plays. Now that I’ve played the beginning of the game, I can share a bit more about the overall story and gameplay experience. I won’t reveal any spoilers, just give a general overview of what Pokemon Pokopia is about for anyone who’s still curious.
Pokemon Pokopia‘s Story, Explained

At its core, Pokemon Pokopia is a game about restoring a sense of community. The story begins with Ditto waking up in a world seemingly emptied of both people and Pokemon. Missing its trainer, Ditto takes on the appearance of its human companion (which the player customizes). It soon discovers it’s alone except for Professor Tangrowth, a unique Pokemon who explains that the island has been deserted for a long time. The game centers around Ditto’s journey to repopulate the world.
As you begin playing Pokemon Pokopia, the story will gradually reveal itself. The main focus of the game is restoring the islands and bringing Pokémon back to life. You’ll do this by creating appealing habitats and building up your own home. Along the way, you’ll meet new Pokémon, explore different areas, and start to piece together the mystery of what happened to leave the world so desolate. Pokemon Pokopia blends relaxing gameplay with an intriguing story, though exactly what caused the island’s condition remains to be seen – we’ll likely discover some answers as we play.
There’s Likely More Beneath the Surface in Pokemon Pokopia, And I’m Excited for It

The game’s core idea and how you play it seem simple enough. However, I have a feeling the story will become much more surprising once it’s released. Pokémon has already given us a glimpse of some really different Pokémon forms – like Peakychu, a ghost-type Pikachu, and Mosslax, a Snorlax covered in moss. I’m really hoping the story of Pokopia will explain how these unique Pokémon came to be.
The game director recently told IGN that completing the main story of Pokemon Pokopia will likely take players between 20 and 40 hours. They also hinted at content available after the credits roll, suggesting a substantial storyline before the game truly ends. This is good news for players who enjoy having a clear narrative in cozy games, as it seems to offer a good balance between story and open-ended gameplay.
I’ve been playing Pokemon Pokopia and I’m really intrigued by the story. It has a cool, mysterious, post-apocalyptic feel that suggests it could be surprisingly emotional. I’m excited to see where it goes!
