On August 6th, MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game will feature playable characters including Storm, Magik, Wolverine, and Danger, collectively known as “The Unbreakable X-Men.”
Here are the latest details, via Sony Interactive Entertainment:
The Unbreakable X-Men
A reborn X-Men team, reassembled to face an approaching threat
I was so excited to finally see the first team reveal trailer! It showed off the Unbreakable X-Men, and they hinted at a really big new threat coming to Earth in the game’s story. It sounds like things are about to get intense!
When a new threat emerged, the X-Men reassembled. But after a tough fight, several key members were injured and had to step back. With fewer heroes able to fight, Storm, with guidance from Professor X, took charge and created a new team – “The Unbreakable X-Men” – to face the challenge.
- Storm – The team leader. A mutant who can freely command the forces of nature, such as wind and lightning.
- Magik – A young mutant highly skilled in both magic and the sword she creates herself known as the Soulsword.
- Wolverine – Battle-scarred but unbroken, he fights alongside the young X-Men with Adamantium claws.
- Danger – The AI of the Danger Room, once used by the X-Men for training, which has gained autonomy and taken physical form.
Mutants are often seen as outsiders and face discrimination because they’re different. Even though humans frequently treat them with hostility, the X-Men are determined to continue their work, fighting to protect everyone – even those who persecute them – from a growing danger.
We’re excited for you to find out what choices the team makes and how their story ends.
Revealing Episode Mode
Stepping back for a moment, the game will feature an Episode Mode.
We’ve worked closely with Marvel Games to create a unique story, world, and cast of characters for this game. This mode features Marvel’s iconic heroes and villains – including the X-Men – as they face a brand new danger.
Episode Mode offers a fresh way to tell stories, combining the styles of American comics and Japanese manga specifically for video games. To ensure an authentic experience, we’ve teamed up with a well-known writer who worked on the original Marvel comics to develop the story and world.
This new story format blends motion comics with stunning manga-style art from renowned artists. It’s fully voiced in 10 languages – including English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin – and utilizes the PlayStation 5’s advanced 3D audio technology for an immersive soundscape. The game also takes advantage of the DualSense controller’s features, adding a unique, tactile dimension to the storytelling. We’re excited to offer a fresh way to experience Marvel stories, something truly special that only a game can deliver.
