Nippon Ichi Software has shared a new trailer and details for their upcoming rural life simulation game, Hono Gurashi no Niwa. The update reveals more about the village’s old traditions and the strange things that happen after dark.
First, here is the new trailer:
And here are the latest details:
■ Summary
This is Kagatsu Village, a small, quiet village nestled deep in the mountains.
While exploring the mountains, the young main character got lost but was saved by people living in a nearby village. They decided to start a new life there.
They tend a neglected garden, grow crops, and sometimes go on leisurely fishing trips…
Time passes peacefully and quietly in Kagatsu Village.
However, strange events begin to occur in this peaceful village.
Strange and unwritten rules govern Kagatsu Village, the residents remain tight-lipped, and unsettling changes are starting to disrupt their peaceful existence.
As each day passes, the mysteries of this land slowly come to light.
Will the protagonist be able to uncover the village’s dark secrets and become a “true villager”?
■ A Faint Uneasiness Lingers in Calm Conversation
The people in this village are generally friendly and welcoming. However, they sometimes say strange things that make you wonder what they mean. As someone new to the village, the main character receives no explanation, and these puzzling comments create a subtle, unsettling feeling.
As you get to know the villagers better, they might start to share more. But the village’s hidden history appears to be very old and deeply ingrained.
The villagers are talking quietly, careful not to let the main character hear their conversation. They’re clearly discussing things they don’t want him or her to know about.

People often avoid getting to the point, leaving the main character feeling uninformed or out of the loop.

■ The Eight Rules of Kagatsu Village
Kagatsu Village is a place steeped in tradition, and many old customs are still practiced there. Newcomers, including the main character, are expected to follow a set of guidelines known as “The Eight Rules of Kagatsu Village.”
“Do not approach strangers.”
“Do not seek out lost items.”
The reasons behind these rules are a mystery.
The village chief says these rules are in place to safeguard the community’s successful and comfortable way of living, but…

—The villagers speak in threatening ways to prevent you from breaking the rules.

—Following the rules appears to be something deeply ingrained in the villagers’ way of life..

Some people in the village are going out at night when they’re not supposed to. I wonder why they’re doing that?

Kagatsu Village Late at Night Is Much Different from Daytime
Even if you’re alone, you might feel like someone is watching you. Exploring the village at night could help you discover the secrets the residents are hiding.
Summon your courage, break the rules, and step into the darkness of Kagatsu Village.
—Don’t forget your flashlight when exploring late at night.

You might find strange, lost things late at night, and some of them could actually be helpful.

■ Late-Night Encounters in Kagatsu Village
Sometimes, late at night, you’ll come across things you can’t easily explain – things that seem to come from beyond everyday reality. Are these encounters threatening, or are these beings simply… there?
The answers will gradually reveal themselves as you explore the village at night.

■ “Safe Living Mode”
Choosing “Safe Living Mode” lets you experience the village during the day and still follow all the rules. It’s perfect for players who don’t enjoy scary games, allowing them to focus on building a peaceful life and enjoying each day.
