Every Confirmed Monsterverse Titan Ahead of Monarch Season 2

The second season of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premieres in just one week, marking the eighth installment in the popular Monsterverse franchise. Fans are excited, as the series has built momentum since the original Godzilla movie in 2014. We’ve already seen many incredible creatures across five films, Skull Island, and the first season of Monarch. But with the new season approaching, will we see any monsters besides the four featured in the trailer? Will favorites like Mothra, who appeared in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, return? Even though Ghidorah seems defeated, what about Rodan? And will we finally see some of the Titans from the Monsterverse comic books, such as Amhuluk, come to life on screen?

Will season two of Monarch introduce any unexpected Titans? It’s possible! But even if it doesn’t, the show seems to be building towards something similar to what Godzilla vs. Kong was to the MonsterVerse, or what Captain America: Civil War was to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – a major turning point and setup for even bigger things.

4) Scarabs

The first season of Monarch featured the Endopedes, creatures with tooth-like appendages and rapid movement. The second season will introduce a comparable creature called the Scarab.

I was really intrigued by something I saw in the trailer for Monarch Season 2! While the creatures in Season 1 weren’t all massive like the one that went after Cate Randa, it proved that both small and huge Endopedes exist. Now, in the trailer, I spotted what look like those smaller Endopedes running through a town, seemingly chasing after young Lee Shaw and Keiko. It makes me wonder if we’ll see both Endopedes and Scarabs this season – they could be the ones we’re seeing! It’s so exciting to think about.

3) Godzilla

I just saw Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and it was wild! So, where did we leave Godzilla at the end? Well, he took down Tiamat, and then Kong called on him to team up and fight Shimo, but especially that seriously scary Skar King. It looks like they’re setting up a huge showdown!

The trailer shows Godzilla in action a few times, including a glimpse of him battling the main villain – we’ll talk about that enemy shortly. He’ll be involved in Season 2, but probably won’t be the central figure like he was in Season 1.

2) Kong

I have to say, watching Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, I was reminded a bit of Son of Kong. It’s not a direct father-son story, and honestly, the ‘dad’ in this case has a lot on his plate! We meet a young Kong named Suko, and he’s just so endearing – you really feel for Kong as he tries to protect him.

Although Suko played a key role in helping Kong and Godzilla win their fight and freeing Shimo, he’s noticeably absent from the trailer for Monarch Season 2. It would be surprising not to see him at all. This season seems to be shifting focus to Kong, who took over leadership of Skar King’s tribe at the end of The New Empire. While the first season centered on Godzilla, Kong is now front and center – he’s featured prominently on the poster and in the trailer. Godzilla will still appear, but this season appears to be more about Kong’s story. Interestingly, the trailer shows Kong on Skull Island, not in the Hollow Earth, suggesting we’ll likely see other massive creatures there, as we have in the past.

1) Titan X

The first season of Monarch introduced the Ion Dragon, a powerful enemy, but it didn’t play a major role for very long. Now that the show has established its main characters, Season 2 appears to be heavily focused on developing its primary villain, Titan X.

This creature is massive – roughly the size of fifty whales – with tentacles and a head resembling a reptile. It glows with a brilliant blue light and has four eyes, each with its own iris and pupil. Imagine the Kraken from movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Clash of the Titans combined with the power of Godzilla, and you’ll have a good idea of what this original monster looks like. It’s an incredibly well-designed kaiju, and we’re excited to see it fully realized on screen.

Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premieres February 27th on Apple TV+, with new episodes released weekly through May 1st.
