The top-selling game of 2025 is currently available as a free download for a limited time to certain Xbox users. However, it’s not permanently free – players will need an Xbox Game Pass subscription (Essential, Premium, or Ultimate) to access it. If you have one of these subscriptions, you can try the game for free until February 22nd to see if you want to buy it.
Players who meet the requirements can now try out Battlefield 6 from EA and DICE for free. The 2025 release was already very popular, becoming the best-selling game in the US last year – a first for the Battlefield series. Its success was due to being a strong first-person shooter, but also because Call of Duty, a major competitor, wasn’t as strong last year. Only a few other recent games, like Hogwarts Legacy and Red Dead Redemption 2, have reached the top of the yearly sales charts. This free access should also bring some new players into the game for those who are still enjoying it.
Great Time to Buy the First-Person Shooter
To celebrate the free download and trial, EA is offering a sale on Battlefield 6. You can get it for $45.49 on the Microsoft Store, a 35% discount from its usual price of $69.99. This is the largest digital discount the game has ever had. While physical copies have been cheaper – dropping to $30.29 with a 57% discount – that deal was only available at retail stores. Currently, physical copies are a bit more expensive, but you can find them on Amazon for $37.89.
We had a good time playing and reviewing Battlefield 6 last year, and we even gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. But if that doesn’t excite you, Xbox Game Pass members can now download and play a highly-rated RPG, considered by many to be one of the greatest games ever made.
