As a lifelong sci-fi fan, I still remember being really disappointed when Star Cops was cancelled after just nine episodes way back when – though it’s become a beloved classic over the years! It was created by Chris Boucher, who’d previously written for shows like Doctor Who and Blake’s 7. The series imagined an International Police Force – basically Space Cops – keeping order in the developing colonies of our Solar System, set in 2027. It had a really unique vibe, kind of blending the optimistic feel of classic Star Trek with the structure of a police procedural. After lying dormant for around thirty years, it was amazing to see it return in 2018, but as an audio drama series – a really cool way to revisit a lost gem.
As a big fan of the Star Cops audio dramas, I was thrilled when the seventh series, Star Cops: Conflict: Suspicion and Sabotage, came out in 2026. And now, the second part is finally here – Star Cops – Conflict: Shadow of the Moonlight! The story kicks off with a film being made about the Star Cops, starring the iconic Coral Goldfinch. But things take a turn when her co-star is found murdered on the Moon, and Spring and the team get pulled into the investigation – uncovering a much darker side to the world of fame and filmmaking.
This new audio drama, like previous Star Cops releases, features the original television cast: David Calder as Commander Nathan Spring, Linda Newton as Pal Kenzy, and Trevor Cooper as Colin Devis. The cast also includes Philip Olivier, Ben Miles, Samantha Boffin, and Cameron Johnson. You can download Star Cops: Conflict: Shadow of the Moonlight from wwe.bigfinish.com.
Star Cops: Conflict Continues the Audio Revival of the Sci-Fi Classic

The original Star Cops TV series was cut short after only nine episodes, despite plans for a ten-episode season. The BBC cancelled the show before the ninth episode could be filmed, leading to a jump from the eighth episode directly to what would have been the season finale. For over 30 years, the series remained dormant until audio dramas brought it back to life in a new format.
Big Finish Productions revived the Star Cops series, bringing back three of the original actors and adding a new cast. The first release, Star Cops: Mother Earth, was an audio drama with eight episodes released across two sets in May and December 2018. In December 2019, they released an audiobook, The Stuff of Life, and began a new audio series, Star Cops: Mars, which initially featured three episodes, followed by three more in July 2020.
Following the audiobook Sins of the Father in December 2021, the Star Cops series continued with The High Frontier in October 2022, featuring three episodes, and another three in April 2023. The release schedule changed for Star Cops: Blood Moon, with one new episode appearing each month between January and June 2024. Star Cops: Conflict will release three episodes, one per month, from January to March 2026, with the final episode, titled “Prisoner and Escort,” coming out next month.
