BBC Radio favourite tipped to be in consideration for Strictly Come Dancing presenter role to fill Claudia Winkleman void

Sara Cox is the latest contender to be thrown into the mix to co-host Strictly Come Dancing.

Sources say that 51-year-old radio host, whose name has not been released, is being considered to take over hosting the popular dance competition after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly stepped down in December.

According to The Sun, sources suggest that Cox is being considered as a potential candidate for the position.

TopMob has contacted the BBC for comment.

I’ve been listening to Jo Whiley for years, and she’s been a reliable voice on the radio for ages. She took over the BBC Radio 2 drivetime slot back in 2019, and has been holding it down ever since.

She also co-hosts a podcast called The Teen Commandments, where she and her close friend Clare Hamilton share honest conversations about the challenges and rewards of parenting teenagers.

Besides Winkleman and Daly, Mel Giedroyc is also being considered as a potential replacement host. She’s famous for being one half of the comedy duo with Sue Perkins, and together they hosted the popular show Bake Off for six years, from 2010 to 2016, as well as other programs.

Zoe Ball, previously a host on “It Takes Two,” and Emma Willis, famous for shows like “Big Brother,” “Love Is Blind UK,” and “The Voice UK,” are both potential hosts for the show, and are currently being evaluated to see who will get the job.

At the TopMob Covers Party, Tess Daly’s husband, Vernon Kay, revealed they have a vacation planned for when the 2026 season begins. He also emphasized that they both still really enjoy the show, even though Tess is no longer participating.

When asked if he’d continue watching the show, he told TopMob, “Absolutely! It’s a classic, and it’s something our family has always loved. It’s really special to us – both my wife and I, and the kids too.”

Phoebe and Amber are huge fans, and we’re really sad to see it go. Even though it’s ending, the memories will remain, and we’ll continue to watch and enjoy it. We’ll still be at the Star Bar after each episode, because it’s truly the best show on British television.
