Forza Horizon 6’s Renewed Focus on Progression Casts You as a Nobody in Japan

Okay, so Forza Horizon 5 is a blast – seriously, the open world is amazing and it’s super fun to just drive around. But honestly, it can be a lot. There’s always something new to unlock, and so many things you can do that it gets overwhelming pretty quickly. Jumping in on PS5 later in the game’s life, it just throws everything at you right from the start, and it’s a bit much to handle!

It’s great that Forza Horizon 6 features a redesigned progression system. It’s more forgiving for new players, but still allows experienced racers to play as freely as they like.

That’s what we’re taking away from a recent official blog post about the game.

Forza Horizon 6 is a fresh start! Unlike previous games where you begin as a famous racer, this time you’re new to the scene in Japan. You’ll need to work your way up, earning Wristbands to unlock the best cars and events.

It feels more classic and simple. You’ll need to finish the Horizon Qualifiers and then the Horizon Invitational to earn your first Wristband, and that’s when the real adventure starts.

Every race and event at the Horizon Festival is carefully designed, and once you finish one, you can customize it and share it with friends online to enjoy however you like.

As you collect more Wristbands, you’ll gain access to new events and unlock faster, more powerful cars as the competition gets tougher.

To earn the next Wristband and advance your career, you’ll need to succeed in a special event. These could be exciting Showcase Events, or Horizon Rush, where you race against the clock to complete challenging obstacle courses as quickly as possible.

Okay, so I finally collected all seven Wristbands, and now I’ve unlocked Legend Island! It’s this special place with events just for players who really put in the time – basically, the most dedicated racers like me. Pretty cool!

Beyond the Horizon Festival’s organized events, you’re free to explore Japan’s vast open world and discover a wealth of side activities as you go.

You can enjoy activities like taking pictures, delivering food, and participating in street and mountain races. As you explore the game world, you’ll collect Stamps, which you can use to unlock items such as player homes and clues to find hidden cars.

Forza Horizon 6 seems like it will have plenty to do, but it will be organized in a way that feels less overwhelming. Instead of being bombarded with cars, random prizes, and endless activities, the game aims for a more focused experience.
