Following speculation last year, Overwatch is now heading to mobile devices – but with a twist. Blizzard has revealed Overwatch Rush for iOS and Android, created by an internal team. Instead of playing from a first-person view like the original, this version is a top-down, twin-stick shooter. Not sure what that means? Check out the trailer below for a better understanding.
This game was designed specifically for mobile, letting you play 4v4 matches with popular heroes like Reinhardt, Mercy, Tracer, and Soldier 76. It’s currently being tested in a few select countries, and there’s no word yet on when it will be available in other regions or when it will officially launch.
Blizzard hasn’t shared a complete list of what will be available, but we know King of the Hill and Busan will be included, based on initial gameplay. They plan to add more content and events regularly, and they’re actively seeking player feedback, especially on new features. This also includes how players can make optional purchases, as the game is free to play.
Unlike Diablo: Immortal, Overwatch Rush will only be available on mobile devices – it won’t be released on PC. We’ll share more details soon. Don’t worry, the original Overwatch is still being developed by the dedicated Team 4, and work on the mobile game won’t affect that. Overwatch has recently seen a surge in popularity with the addition of five new heroes, and even more content is planned with the new seasonal updates.
