Throughout the Hitman series, IO Interactive has sent Agent 47 to locations around the world, constantly adding new and surprising ways to play. The games have also tried out different game modes over the years, and one that hasn’t been available for about eight years is coming back in a recently announced Hitman title.
IO Interactive is partnering with MOOD Publishing to create Hitman: The Board Game, and early images look promising. The game’s most exciting feature is a competitive multiplayer mode inspired by Hitman 2 from 2018. However, unlike the original, this board game is designed entirely around that concept, challenging four players to compete as Hitmen, hunting targets to achieve victory.

Hitman: The Board Game Raises The Stakes With Not 1, but 4 Hitmen

I’m really excited about Hitman: The Board Game! It lets up to four of us compete to finish contracts before each other, and it’s bringing back a bunch of familiar faces from the video games. We can play as Agent 47, Stone, Knight, or Lucas Grey, and each agent has their own special skills. Like, 47 is a master of making hits look like accidents, Stone is amazing at thinking on his feet, Knight always has a plan for everything that could go wrong, and Lucas is a pro mercenary with his own crew. It sounds awesome!
After everyone chooses a secret Agent, players select a target and a location for their mission – each of which adds its own twists to the game. Each turn, you’ll draw an Event card and then take three Actions. These Actions could include things like creating a distraction, attacking, setting a trap, hiding evidence, going undercover, damaging security, moving around the map, or drawing extra cards. You can also play cards from your hand to help you with the situation.
The game will feature several locations, with Paris and Hokkaido already confirmed. Players will encounter targets like Viktor Novikov, Dalia Margolis, Erich Soders, and Yuki Yamazaki. The cards you collect during gameplay will influence how you eliminate your targets – drawing a weapon like an assault rifle or a syringe will require you to adapt your strategy accordingly.

As if the game wasn’t challenging enough, you really need to watch what the other players are up to! Knowing their moves is key to reaching the goal first, because honestly, it could be the difference between a win and a loss. And get this – they’re promising even more stuff is coming, so it sounds like this game is just going to keep growing and getting better before it finally launches. I’m hyped!
The board game version of Hitman is coming to Gamefound soon, and we’ll let you know as soon as the crowdfunding campaign begins.
