IO Interactive recently announced that Lenny Kravitz would be joining the cast of their new game, 007: First Light, as the character Bawma. Now, they’ve released a new trailer offering a more detailed look at him. This extended trailer features a longer version of Bawma’s speech before he dramatically throws a disloyal follower into a pit of crocodiles.
Bawma appears to be a villain in the new James Bond film, 007: First Light. He leads a large, illegal arms dealing operation called Aleph, which operates throughout the Americas. In the film’s trailer, Bawma talks a lot about how greed can be a destructive force within Aleph, and the importance of addressing it quickly before it spreads.
Lenny Kravitz isn’t just voicing the character of Bawma; he’s also performing the motion capture, bringing Bawma’s unpredictable personality to life through his movements. The scene traps Bond in a classic, dangerous situation – dangling over a pit of crocodiles with his MI6 advisor, John Greenway. But, as you’d expect in a James Bond movie, Bond will probably find a clever way to escape.
While Bawma seems to be a major villain in 007: First Light, it’s probable we’ll encounter other enemies as Bond investigates agent 009. Unfortunately, not much is known about this 009 character yet.
The recent State of Play presentation included a new trailer for 007: First Light, which delved into the story and character of James Bond. The trailer also showed off exciting gameplay moments, highlighting various weapons and vehicles like boats, cars, and planes.
Recently, the game’s director, Andreas Krogh, explained that the game’s different features are designed to make players really feel like James Bond. He emphasized that maintaining a sense of constant action and progress – what he calls “forward momentum” – is key to achieving this.
We really wanted to emphasize Bond’s quick thinking in the game’s design. He’s a character who improvises a lot, and we’re building that into all of the gameplay, whether you’re trying to be stealthy or engaging in combat.
During fights, we’ve designed several abilities to help players overcome enemies. For example, our close-combat focuses on quickly closing distance, while ranged combat emphasizes resource management – you won’t have unlimited ammunition, so players need to be strategic about when and how they shoot.
You’re running low on ammo, so you need to get some from your enemies. Advance towards them, using any movement abilities you have to close the distance quickly. Disarm them to get a new weapon. Once you’ve used that weapon, throw it to the next enemy to stagger them, making it easier to either take their weapon or grab more ammo and keep fighting.
007: First Light is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on May 27th.
