5 Characters Who Deserve To Be In Street Fighter 6 Season 4

With Street Fighter 6 continuing to be a hit, it’s almost certain we’ll see more characters added in Season 4. Fans really enjoyed the return of classic fighters in Season 3, so the developers will likely continue that trend. There are already several popular characters that players have been requesting for a long time, making them strong contenders for the next update to Street Fighter.

The game already includes many of the classic Street Fighter characters. However, some fan favorites haven’t been seen in a new game for over ten years, particularly notable characters from Street Fighter 3: Third Strike and Street Fighter 4. Because Street Fighter 6 already has a large cast, any new characters added as downloadable content need to be distinct and offer something different from those already available.

5. Sakura

It’s natural to see Ryu, Ken, and Akuma in Street Fighter 6 – they’ve always been fan favorites who use Shotokan karate. However, the absence of Sakura is surprising, as she brings a unique style to this same fighting style. Like Ryu, she uses moves like Hadoukens and spinning kicks, but her approach to the classic “Shoto” character is always innovative, and Street Fighter 6‘s new gameplay features could have really highlighted that.

Sakura was a unique character in Street Fighter 5, known for her special moves like fireballs that travel upwards and projectiles that require charging. Her attacks weren’t as powerful individually, but this allowed for longer and more complex combos, and her ability to dodge and roll gave her greater movement options than characters like Ryu, Ken, and Akuma. After Sagat, a classic Street Fighter character, was added in Season 3, including Sakura in Season 4 felt natural, as she’s a relatively straightforward fighter that fits well with the latest game.

4. Vega

As a long-time Street Fighter fan, I was really surprised to see Vega – or Balrog and Claw, depending on where you’re from – missing from Street Fighter 6! With Sagat and M. Bison making the cut, I naturally assumed Balrog and Vega would be next, but things got complicated when Ed took over Balrog’s spot. It’s left me wondering about Vega. He’s always been such a unique fighter, totally different from everyone else, and a lot of us fans are hoping he makes a return. His fighting style is just so interesting!

Vega stands out in the Street Fighter series not just because of fond memories of Street Fighter 2, but also due to his unique, acrobatic fighting style and dangerous claw. Street Fighter 6‘s Drive System would further highlight his fast-paced and unpredictable nature, giving him a diverse set of moves. While historically a challenging character to master, Vega’s connection to M. Bison makes his return, alongside the revived Shadaloo leader, a natural fit.

3. Makoto

While many characters from Street Fighter 3: Third Strike wouldn’t quite fit into the latest game, Makoto is definitely due for a comeback. Just like Alex proved popular in Season 3, Makoto becoming a central figure in Season 4 would be a great move, especially since she hasn’t appeared in a Street Fighter game since Street Fighter 4. She’s a unique fighter, specializing in powerful, close-range Rindo-kan Karate attacks instead of relying on the energy projectiles used by most other characters.

Makoto is a powerful fighter who overwhelms opponents with quick punches and sweeping kicks, designed to inflict heavy damage. Her aggressive playstyle fits perfectly with the fast-paced systems of Street Fighter 6, enhancing her “rushdown” approach. Street Fighter 6’s flexible design gives Makoto access to all her classic moves from Third Strike, and potentially opens the door for exciting new techniques, making her more enjoyable to play than ever before.

2. Sean

Sean, Ken’s student and a dedicated learner of the “Shoto” fighting style, is another character who hasn’t been playable for a while. While similar to Sakura, Sean fights with a lot more energy, focusing on dodging through opponents and launching powerful, flashy uppercuts. He even throws a volleyball as a quick attack, giving him a fun, youthful, and exciting style that fits perfectly with the look and feel of Street Fighter 6.

Sean would be a great addition to Street Fighter 6, fitting seamlessly into the World Tour mode or any other part of the game. Given SF6‘s position as a continuation of the series’ story, it would be fascinating to see how Sean has developed since training with Ken, particularly since Ken is now more withdrawn. With many current fighting games emphasizing character growth and legacy, Sean perfectly aligns with this trend, making a strong case for his inclusion in Season 4.

1. Fei Long

It’s been far too long since Fei Long appeared in a new Street Fighter game – his exclusion from Street Fighter 5 was a real oversight. As one of the original World Warriors, he’s the only character from Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers (other than T. Hawk) not included in Street Fighter 6. Considering Lily now uses many of T. Hawk’s moves, Fei Long’s continued absence is even more surprising.

Fei Long is clearly inspired by Bruce Lee, but he remains a unique character in the Street Fighter roster. He attacks with fast, powerful kicks and a rapid-fire series of punches, creating constant pressure on opponents. Street Fighter 6’s gameplay mechanics would perfectly complement this aggressive, action-movie style, allowing players of all skill levels to easily execute Fei Long’s impressive moves using the Drive meter.

Fei Long’s return as a powerful, aggressive character appeals to longtime fans while also offering a fresh take for new players. The impressive detail in Street Fighter 6 gives him the potential to be a standout addition in Season 4, with exciting new and classic moves that are sure to attract a wider audience.
