Justice League’s Cut Green Lantern Gets New Photo Ahead of Man of Tomorrow News

Zack Snyder recently posted a behind-the-scenes photo from his cut of Justice League, showing actor Wayne T. Carr as the character Green Lantern John Stewart. This character didn’t make it into the final version of the movie, and Snyder shared this image of a scene that was ultimately cut by the studio.

Zack Snyder recently posted a photo from the set featuring Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart, the DC Comics character and Green Lantern.

Zack Snyder shared a picture on Instagram before the fifth anniversary of his director’s cut of Justice League. The photo featured Wayne Carr as John Stewart, a character Snyder had intended to include in the film. The caption hinted that plans for Stewart might still happen, saying, “Some paths remain unseen… but the green glow is still out there.”

As a huge Zack Snyder fan, I was so excited to hear he’d cast Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart in his Justice League cut! He even filmed a little scene with him for the ending, which was awesome. It’s really frustrating to learn that Warner Bros. actually stopped Zack from including it, because they had their own ideas for Green Lantern down the line. It felt like a real missed opportunity to see that version of the character!

So, Zack Snyder had a really interesting idea for the ending of Justice League. He originally wanted Ryan Reynolds – who played Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie – to show up and meet Ben Affleck’s Batman. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. wasn’t on board with that cameo, and they asked him to cut it. Instead of Green Lantern, we ended up seeing Martian Manhunter appear alongside Batman in the final scene. It’s a shame, because I think seeing Reynolds’ Green Lantern would’ve been a fun nod to the DC universe, but the change clearly happened at the studio level.

Zack Snyder recently shared a picture on social media as part of a series of posts celebrating the upcoming anniversary of his film, Zack Snyder’s Justice League. He’d already posted images of Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, the film’s poster, and the villain Darkseid. In a separate post, Snyder noted that the anniversary is just eight days away.

I was really excited when Zack Snyder shared some footage of a scene with Wayne T. Carr! It’s a shame they ultimately cut it from the movie – we never even got to see his cameo. It was cool to get a peek at what he originally had planned for the Justice League story, though.

The director explained in the caption that this character was originally planned to be included in the Justice League story, but ultimately wasn’t in the final cut of the movie.
