Beyond Paradise season 4 first look at new episodes as Kris Marshall and co return for new cases

A new trailer has just been released for season 4 of Beyond Paradise, offering a sneak peek at the mysteries Humphrey and his team will be solving, as well as what’s happening in their personal lives. The new season starts in just over a week.

The new trailer reveals Vincent Franklin’s character delivering bad news to Humphrey: the police department is shrinking, and he’s forced to decide which of his team members – Esther (Zahra Ahmadi), Kelby (Dylan Llewellyn), or Margo (Felicity Montagu) – will be let go.

The new trailer hints at a possible murder case this season, which is unusual for “Beyond Paradise” – the show typically deals with less serious crimes. We also see Humphrey and his wife, Martha Bretton, purchasing their new home together.

The upcoming season will have six episodes, continuing the story after last year’s Christmas special where Humphrey and Martha got married. Humphrey’s former boss, Selwyn (played by Don Warrington), was his best man at the wedding.

The new season follows the police team as they investigate several strange cases: a novelist’s death eerily predicted in their own book, a traditional Morris dance that takes a dark turn, a long-lost treasure map that resurfaces, and reports of a vengeful mermaid seen off the coast. The line between reality and local legends becomes increasingly blurred as they delve deeper into each mystery.

Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and his wife, Martha (Sally Bretton), are looking for a new house as they settle into married life. Meanwhile, Humphrey is facing a difficult choice that could have a big impact on everyone at the police station.

I’m so excited to see the guest stars they’ve lined up! Melanie Walters, who I absolutely loved in Gavin & Stacey, is going to be appearing, along with Colin McFarlane from The War Between the Land and the Sea. And even better, Phil Daniels is coming back as Marvellous Harris, his wonderful fisherman character from the first season! It’s going to be fantastic to see him again.

Beyond Paradise season 4 arrives on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday 27 March at 8pm.
