The latest episode of Paradise may have just confirmed a major fan theory. Since it premiered last year, Paradise has captivated audiences with its compelling story. As Season 2 nears its end, more details about the characters and their backgrounds are being revealed. The show famously started with a twist, hinting at a much larger story, and Season 2 is continuing that trend of surprising reveals.
Even though some fan theories about Paradise Season 2 have been proven wrong, others still haven’t been disproven. A popular theory from Season 1 seems increasingly likely, particularly after the latest episode focusing on Jane Driscoll and her violent actions. While the episode, “Jane,” might have a significant plot inconsistency regarding the special agent’s history, it also suggests the show’s biggest fan theory could be correct.
Jane’s Wii Scene Creates a Massive ‘Paradise’ Plot Hole

In Season 2, Episode 6 of Paradise, titled “Jane,” the show explores Jane’s past and how she became a Secret Service agent. Viewers have been captivated by Jane’s line, “Probably should have just let me have the Wii,” ever since she shot Sinatra at the end of Season 1, and have been eager to learn more about her strange obsession with the Nintendo console. In a flashback, while connecting with her CIA mentor, Jane surprisingly asks what a Wii remote is, leaving audiences puzzled.
Okay, so the show establishes that Jane was born on June 6th, 1997. Season 1 kicks off three years later, in a place called Paradise, which puts her around 28 years old during the main events. We don’t get a super clear age when she’s training with the CIA, but since they don’t bring in another actress to play a younger version of her – like they did with Kayla Anjali portraying 8-year-old Jane earlier – it’s pretty obvious she’s an adult in those scenes. It’s a little detail, but it got me thinking: the Nintendo Wii came out in 2006, which would’ve made Jane about 10 years old. Yet, she acts like she’s never seen one before? It’s a weird little continuity thing that stuck with me.
Jane shared that she had a difficult upbringing, and flashbacks to her childhood with her mother support this. However, this doesn’t explain why she didn’t recognize the Wii. Most people who were kids or young adults when the Wii launched would have at least seen it or recognized its distinctive controller. It’s possible Jane was pretending not to know, but it’s unclear why she would do that. Perhaps there’s another explanation for her lack of awareness beyond simply being disconnected from popular culture.
Jane Could Be Behind ‘Paradise’s Time Travel Hints

Ever since the first season, viewers have guessed that time travel would be a key element in the show Paradise. Some think it relates to Sinatra’s past, particularly the loss of her son, while others believe it’s connected to Billy’s death. Whatever the reason, it’s become clear that the show’s timeline doesn’t always make sense, and the latest episode highlighted this even more. Now, a new idea suggests Jane might be the one manipulating time.
It’s important to consider who convinced the man to find Jane as a baby and told him she would become a killer. Where this information came from is still a mystery, but given the circumstances, it likely originated in the future. While people like Sinatra or Xavier seem like possible culprits, it makes you wonder if Jane herself was the one who sent the message.
With just two episodes left in Season 2, it’s unclear how things will end for Paradise. Jane is currently driven by revenge, but that might not last. We could see Sinatra double-cross her again, or the killer might be haunted by what she’s done – feeling remorse for killing Billy and Baines and wanting to rewrite her own story. However, her motives might not be about seeking forgiveness; she could be planning something even more dangerous. Ultimately, instead of preventing her younger self from becoming a killer, Jane accidentally alters the past in a more understated way.
The man who received the message in the opening scene of “Jane” might be more significant than it seems. He’s shown fixing electronics, wearing a Circuit City polo, and it’s possible his life was headed in a very specific direction before Jane’s message disrupted it. Could he have been destined to play a key role in the creation of video game consoles? While Nintendo began work on the Wii in 1998, perhaps his absence from the gaming industry at that time had unforeseen consequences. Although Nintendo relies on the contributions of many people, not all of them are located in Japan. It’s intriguing to consider that this man might have been a crucial, missing piece of the puzzle.

While it seems the scene with the Wii in “Jane” simply shows how she began her path as a killer and highlights her bond with her mentor, there’s a possibility it’s much deeper than that. The fact that Jane doesn’t recognize the Wii could be explained if video game consoles hadn’t been invented as early as they were. After confronting Jane’s mother, the man was stopped by security and likely arrested. He might have continued to bother her even after she left the hospital, which could have eventually led to him being imprisoned. It’s even possible that his failure to stop Jane ultimately altered the course of history, turning her into the major threat she became in Paradise.
Jane mentioned she used to hear voices and had mental health challenges growing up. It’s common for people with similar experiences to also have trouble with their memories, particularly when dealing with difficult childhood events. Jane may have known about the Wii when it first came out, but after altering the past as an adult, she couldn’t recall it during her time with the CIA.
It’s probable that history has been altered in ways beyond just the changes to Nintendo consoles. Many viewers hope the rest of Paradise Season 2 will offer more clues, and they’re encouraged to pay attention to details that hint at further historical differences. Whether this theory is completely true, partially true, or incorrect remains to be seen, but it’s definitely prompting audiences to reconsider Jane’s point of view.
