Prime Video Renews Hit Thriller Series After 95% RT Score for Latest Season

Amazon’s Prime Video is becoming a major destination for fans of popular stories. They’ve successfully turned many well-known titles into long-running series, including reboots like Mr. & Mrs. Smith, comic book adaptations (Invincible, The Boys), shows based on novels (Scarpetta, The Rings of Power, Good Omens), video game adaptations (Fallout), and even shows that appeal to a broad audience – often called “dad shows” (Reacher, Jack Ryan).

I’m so excited that Prime Video continues to create shows for everyone, especially those with diverse backgrounds and stories – I really appreciate that! And I was thrilled to hear that one of their most popular shows is coming back for a third season. It’s fantastic news for all of us fans!

Amazon Renews Cross For Season 3

Amazon has announced that Cross will return for a third season on Prime Video. The new season will have eight episodes and be a collaboration between Paramount Television and Amazon-MGM. Based on the popular Alex Cross novels by James Patterson – a series of over twenty books – Cross also follows previous movie adaptations including Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider, and Alex Cross before being reimagined as this current TV series.

Aldis Hodge, known for his role in Black Adam, stars as Detective Alex Cross in this series, a character previously portrayed by Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry. Isaiah Mustafa, famous for his Old Spice commercials, plays Detective John Sampson, Cross’s partner. Juanita Jennings, from Meet the Browns, appears as Alex’s grandmother, Regina. Throughout the show’s two seasons, a variety of actors have taken on recurring roles as both friends and potential suspects, including Matthew Lillard, Jeanine Mason, Wes Chatham, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill.

Peter Friedlander, head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, praised the series from the start, noting its complex characters, thrilling suspense, and relatable stories. He specifically highlighted Aldis Hodge’s performance as Alex Cross, calling it a definitive and captivating portrayal that brings depth and emotion to the show. Amazon MGM Studios is excited to continue the series with Ben, their partners at Paramount Television Studios, and the talented cast, bringing more of James Patterson’s popular stories to viewers worldwide on Prime Video.

Cross Is Officially A Major Hit For Prime Video

Amazon reports that Season 1 of Cross attracted 40 million viewers worldwide within its first 20 days on Prime Video. It was the third most popular premiere on the service in 2025, and reached the #1 spot in over 100 countries. The second season, which premiered in February, quickly became a top 10 original series during its premiere week.

Season 2 of Cross centers around Lance Durand, a wealthy businessman played by Matthew Lillard, who contacts the FBI after receiving a death threat connected to a murder. Detectives Alex Cross and Kayla Craig (Alona Tal) team up to protect Durand and investigate the case, which involves disturbing clues. Throughout the investigation, Cross’ partner, John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa), uncovers a surprising lead.
