Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again picks up the intense rivalry between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. The original Daredevil series, a collaboration between Netflix and Marvel Television, kicked off a hugely popular wave of Marvel shows on Netflix. These series stood out for their realistic, hard-hitting tone, offering a different kind of storytelling within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, by 2019, Netflix had cancelled all of these shows as they shifted their focus to other content, seemingly ending the Marvel Netflix era.
Charlie Cox finally brought his Daredevil character to the big screen with a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now, the cast of Daredevil is back, and the first season of Daredevil: Born Again concluded with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin becoming the mayor of New York City. Fans are eagerly anticipating Season 2 of Born Again, especially with Krysten Ritter reprising her role as Jessica Jones. To get ready for the new season, you might want to review what happened previously.
11. NYC Is Under Martial Law – & Vigilantes Are Illegal

Kingpin is now firmly in control, facing no real opposition. He’s declared vigilantes illegal and created a special task force – made up of the most ruthless and corrupt police officers – to hunt them down. While superpowered individuals have always been a point of contention in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as shown by events like the Sokovia Accords, Kingpin’s reasons for targeting vigilantes are purely about maintaining his own power. They operate outside the law, and he’s determined to control everything within his reach.
10. Matt Murdock is on the Run

As you might recall from Season 3 of Daredevil, Kingpin discovered Daredevil’s secret identity. He then sent a task force, the AVTF, to eliminate Matt Murdock, fearing his return as a vigilante. However, the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, stopped them. Now, Matt is a fugitive, knowing the AVTF is hunting him, and he’s planning to fight back and take back control of his city.
9. Karen Page Has Returned to New York

After the death of Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll’s character, Karen Page, had moved away from New York City. However, the first season of Daredevil: Born Again concluded with her return, and she immediately started looking out for Matt, even calling in the Punisher to help save him. Because Karen has a personal history with the Kingpin – she even killed one of his men in Season 1 – her involvement in the new season will be deeply personal.
8. Kingpin Returns to Brutal Form

In the first season of Daredevil, Wilson Fisk, known as Kingpin, seemed to be carefully navigating a path towards legitimacy, even suggesting he wanted to change his ways. However, his violent tendencies were merely suppressed, not gone, and they resurfaced in a shocking act. After repeatedly obstructing Fisk’s plans, Police Commissioner Gallo was brutally killed by him.
7. Kingpin Is Illegally Imprisoning Any Threats
Kingpin wasn’t a changed man, despite attending marriage counseling with his wife, Vanessa. Their relationship had been strained, even to the point of Vanessa having an affair with someone Kingpin has now imprisoned. He continued this pattern, arresting anyone he saw as a threat, even briefly holding the Punisher. Jack Duquesne, also known as Swordsman, remains a prisoner as well.
6. Fisk Gives Heather a Role in His Administration

A key storyline in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again revolved around marriage counseling, complicated by the fact that Matt Murdock’s girlfriend, Heather Glenn (played by Margarita Levieva), was secretly assisting Wilson Fisk. By the season’s end, Fisk had fully integrated Heather into his organization, which understandably angered Daredevil.
5. The Secret of Red Hook Revealed

Fisk heavily emphasized the Red Hook port, portraying it as an eyesore that needed fixing up. However, Matt soon discovered Kingpin’s true interest in the area: Red Hook operates as a freeport, essentially outside of normal US and New York laws. This unique status made it ideal for laundering money, and it proved useful for Vanessa Fisk when she temporarily managed Kingpin’s criminal operations.
4. Vanessa Was Responsible for Foggy Nelson’s Assassination

Matt finally understood why Foggy had been killed: he’d uncovered the secrets surrounding Red Hook. Vanessa had hired Bullseye, a professional assassin, to eliminate anyone who knew too much. Vanessa hadn’t realized Daredevil was Matt Murdock – Wilson Fisk would never have risked Daredevil’s anger by letting her know. Now, Kingpin knows the truth as well, and he and Vanessa are working together to cover it up.
3. Officer North Killed White Tiger

With Kingpin gaining power, other heroes are facing trouble. White Tiger was recently killed by someone from the AVTF, and Daredevil and Punisher discovered the killer was Cole North, also known as Jeremy Isaiah Earl. Following the comic book storyline, Camila Rodriguez’s character, Angela Del Toro, may become the new White Tiger.
2. We Haven’t Seen Jessica Jones in Quite a While

Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, marking her return to the Marvel universe after a hiatus. Her story previously concluded with Season 3 of Jessica Jones, which saw her private investigation firm, Alias Investigations, grow and add a psychic to its team. Unlike many vigilantes in New York, Jessica Jones distinguished herself by cooperating with the police and officially registering under the Sokovia Accords.
1. Luke Cage Was (& Maybe Is?) Still on the Side of the Angels

It’s unclear if Mike Colter will reprise his role as Luke Cage in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, but it would fit the story. The end of Luke Cage Season 2 showed him taking control of Harlem’s Paradise and becoming involved in criminal activity, raising concerns about his future. The finale of Jessica Jones Season 3 confirmed he still cares for Jessica and is working to maintain a fragile peace among criminal groups. If Kingpin continues to grow his power, Luke Cage will almost certainly be drawn into the conflict.
