While Green Lanterns are the most well-known of the Power Ring wielders, other colors represent greater power and danger. For a long time, DC Comics focused primarily on the Green Lanterns, establishing them as the universe’s police force and introducing iconic heroes like Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, and Guy Gardner. But eventually, other colors emerged, most notably the yellow rings of the Sinestro Corps, which draw power from fear.
As the story arc Blackest Night demonstrated, the Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps arenāt the most powerful forces in the universe, nor are they the biggest threats. There are actually several other emotional spectrum colors that are far more dangerous.
11) Blue Lanterns

The Blue Lantern Corps possesses the least amount of raw power and isn’t considered a threatening force among the Power Rings. Unlike other Lanterns, they don’t focus on offense or intimidation. Instead, they represent hope and exist to support other Lantern Corpsābut only if those Corps are working towards good. Saint Walker is their most well-known member. They aren’t fighters themselves, but they amplify the power of other Lanterns who are dedicated to positive goals.
10) Indigo Lanterns

The Indigo Tribe is unique because, unlike many other color groups, it isn’t focused on anger or violence. Instead, it embodies compassion. What makes them particularly fascinating is their practice of recruiting even the most dangerous criminals, hoping to reform them. While they can have incredibly powerful and potentially deadly members, the Tribeās energy compels them to feel empathy and prevents them from acting aggressively unless absolutely necessary, as seen during events like Blackest Night.
9) Orange Lanterns

The Orange Lantern Corps is powered by greed, and it’s unique because it only has one member: Larfleeze. He’s incredibly selfish ā he even killed all the other members of his Corps to ensure he was the sole wielder of their power. Larfleeze believes everything belongs to him, and he hoards possessions with a childlike obsession. Fortunately, he generally keeps to himself if left undisturbed, making him less dangerous than other ring-bearers and allowing him to live peacefully surrounded by his vast collection of belongings.
8) Sapphire Lanterns

The Star Sapphires channel the powerful emotion of love through their rings, manifesting as a vibrant, energetic force. While some might assume this makes them the weakest of the Power Ring Corps, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Love is an incredibly strong feeling, and when it’s challenged or endangered, it can become destructive. The Sapphires generally prefer to act independently, only joining conflicts as a last resort, which often makes them appear less intimidating than other Corps ā unless they’re forced to fight.
7) White Lanterns

Many believe the White Lanterns are the most powerful beings in the Lantern Corps, even surpassing other colors in strength. They proved this by defeating the Black Lanterns during the Blackest Night event. Their power comes from the fact that the white light is the source of all other Lantern colors. However, White Lanterns arenāt truly in control of their actions; they are directed by the Life Entity while using the white power. This lack of independent will, and their focus on simply living, actually makes them less intimidating than other, more proactive Lanterns.
6) Green Lanterns

While often seen as the strongest of the Power Ring users, the Green Lantern Corps isn’t always the most powerful. They are exceptionally well-trained, making them formidable in battle. Their power, fueled by willpower, makes them incredibly determined. However, they’re primarily peacekeepers, following orders and dedicated to justice, which usually prevents them from causing widespread destruction. Importantly, Green Lanterns are vulnerable to the powers of Red and Yellow Rings, which can significantly reduce their effectiveness.
5) Grey Lanterns

There’s only been one Grey Lantern, and his story proves just how incredibly powerful ā and dangerous ā this type of energy is. Nathan Broome became the Grey Lantern after being left at the altar by Carol Ferris, who chose Hal Jordan instead. Heartbroken, his engagement ring absorbed his sadness, turning him into a being fueled by sorrow. He sought revenge, becoming so powerful that he even overwhelmed the entire Green Lantern Corps. Ultimately, it was Carol who helped him find peace, allowing him to sacrifice himself after Starbreaker created the source of his power, the Grey Power Battery. His death destroyed the Battery, saving the universe from the immense threat he posed.
4) Yellow Lanterns

In the world of the Power Ring, the first major threat to the Green Lantern Corps came from the Sinestro Corps. Led by Sinestro, a former Green Lantern who once mentored Hal Jordan, this group quickly became the Corpsā greatest enemy. Green Lanterns are powerless against the color yellow, and the Sinestro Corps uses this to their advantage. They thrive on fear, making them incredibly dangerous, and with Sinestroās brilliant strategy, theyāre the most likely group to disrupt peace throughout the universe.
3) Red Lanterns

In the DC Universe, the Red Lantern Corps are straightforward villains, fueled entirely by rage. While the Sinestro Corps are also villains, theyāre more strategic in their attacks. The Red Lanterns simply gather the angriest people in the universe and, led by Atrocitus, unleash them in a furious, all-out assault. Uniquely, they are immune to the Black Lanterns because they have no need for a heart. Adding to their danger, Red Lantern rings fire blasts of plasma and napalm, making them incredibly deadly opponents.
2) Ultraviolet Lanterns

The Ultraviolet Corps is a relatively new addition to the world of Power Rings, first appearing in 2018 in Justice League Vol. 4 #4. They draw their power from the āInvisible Emotional Spectrumā and a living sun named Umbrax. Umbrax is so powerful that it even frightened Sinestro, highlighting the immense threat it poses. In fact, Umbrax was strong enough to corrupt Sinestro and launch an attack on Earth. However, the Ultraviolet Corps are limited by their lack of free will; they exist solely to serve Umbrax, making them emotionless but incredibly dangerous.
1) Black Lanterns

The Black Lantern Corps are widely considered the most dangerous of all the Power Ring groups. While they may not excel in every area, they nearly wiped out the entire world during the ‘Blackest Night’ event, and were only stopped by the White Lanterns. What makes them truly terrifying is that they are completely mindless, existing solely to obey Nekron, the master of the undead. Every member of the Black Lantern Corps is deceased, and their black color symbolizes a complete lack of feeling and life. They can even resurrect fallen heroes, turning them into members of their own ranks ā essentially creating a terrifying undead army.
