I’m absolutely loving this anime! It’s based on a really popular manga and follows Frieren, this incredibly cool and immortal elf mage, as she travels to the place where souls finally rest. It’s a beautiful story and I can totally see why everyone’s so into it.
As a huge fan, I know everyone’s already wondering what’s next for the anime, but it seems like we’re in for a pretty long wait before any new episodes drop. It’s tough news, but hopefully it’ll be worth it!
Here’s a rundown of what we currently know about the anime’s future, including whether it will be renewed for a third season.
Will there be a Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 3?
There’s no news yet about a third season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and even if it’s made, it probably won’t be released for quite a while.
The manga has been paused since October 2025 because the creators, Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, needed to focus on their health.
Although it’s not official, a third season probably won’t be announced until the current break is over.
When could a potential Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 3 be released?
Don’t expect a third season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End before 2028, if it gets renewed at all.
Season 2 launched nearly two and a half years after the first season, and even before the recent pause in the manga’s production, the wait was long. We anticipate a similar timeframe for future seasons, and there might even be further delays.

What is the plot of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End?
The story begins after a group of heroes successfully defeat the Demon King and bring peace to the realm, each returning to a quiet life. Years later, the elf mage Frieren is confronted with the reality of human life and death.
Frieren, an elf, begins a journey to understand life and death. She takes on a new apprentice and also commits to honoring the last requests of her deceased friends. Will her long life and unique perspective allow her to find peace with the cycle of life?
As for what season 3 could cover? We’ll have to wait until new chapters of the manga are released!
