The Worst Movies of the Last 10 Years (2016-2025) According to Letterboxd)

10. Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate (2024)
With an average Letterboxd rating of 1.18, this animated sequel is shockingly cheap-looking for a major studio production. It genuinely looks as bad as one of The Asylum’s low-budget mockbusters, specifically resembling a poorly made version of Megamind. The movie is largely set on the streets of Metro City, which appear flat, lifeless, and completely deserted. Aside from a single dance party scene, there are no people anywhere – it’s as if Megamind and the Doom Syndicate are battling it out in a ghost town. The visual style feels reminiscent of the less foggy levels from the Superman Nintendo 64 game.

9. The Next 365 Days (2022)
The average Letterboxd user rating for The Next 365 Days is a very low 1.18. The original 365 Days, a Polish erotic thriller similar to 50 Shades of Grey, unexpectedly became popular on Netflix during the early days of the pandemic. This led to the quick production of two sequels. However, that decision may have been made too soon, as The Next 365 Days has received over 16,000 reviews with a rating of just half a star on Letterboxd.

8. The Mouse Trap (2024)
With an average Letterboxd rating of 1.14, this film is part of a troubling trend in recent horror. It’s one of many low-budget movies capitalizing on newly public domain characters – specifically, iconic figures like Mickey Mouse. After the initial film in this wave gained attention and profit, numerous copycats appeared. This one features a masked killer terrorizing an arcade, following the expiration of copyright on the original Mickey Mouse short, “Steamboat Willie.” A popular Letterboxd review perfectly captures the sentiment: “Disney, please copyright Mickey Mouse again.”

7. 2025: The World Enslaved By a Virus (2021)
With an average Letterboxd rating of just 1.14, this film isn’t connected to the classic song by Zager and Evans. It’s a science fiction story set in a bleak future where Christianity is outlawed after a Covid pandemic. It hasn’t received any reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences on Letterboxd clearly aren’t enjoying it, as reflected by its 12% Popcornmeter score.

6. 365 Days (2020)
The average Letterboxd rating for the film 365 Days is a very low 1.13. Many users seem to have strongly disliked it – some even jokingly call it “terrorism.” To put that in perspective, it’s almost a full point lower than the notoriously bad Plan 9 From Outer Space, and there are only five movies on this list with even lower ratings.

5. Swiped (2018)
With an average Letterboxd rating of just 1.10, this comedy features Noah Centineo as a college student who enlists his awkward roommate to build a dating app. One Letterboxd user described it as a film they show to people when they’re angry – not exactly a glowing recommendation!

4. 365 Days: This Day (2022)
With an average Letterboxd rating of just 1.09, 365 Days: This Day is considered the weakest film in the 365 Days series by users of the platform. This sequel, and the first follow-up to the original 365 Days (distinct from The Next 365 Days which was actually the second sequel), is almost universally disliked, with reviews frequently pointing out issues with the lead character and suggesting the premise would be better suited to a crime drama like Criminal Minds or Mindhunter.

3. Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
With an average Letterboxd rating of just 1.08, Blood and Honey is widely considered a poor film. Like The Mousetrap, it’s based on a story now in the public domain – A.A. Milne’s classic work. However, it fails as both a horror slasher and as a commentary on children’s literature. Ironically, the film only succeeds in making a strange case against the idea of public domain – suggesting that copyright protection might be useful in preventing truly terrible movies from being made. In short, Blood and Honey is a dreadful film.

2. Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
With an average rating of just 1.05 on Letterboxd, Jeepers Creepers: Reborn is considered one of the worst horror movies of the last decade. This reboot of the Jeepers Creepers franchise—about a monster who hunts teenagers every 23 years—received overwhelmingly negative reviews, and many users believe it will be a very long time before anyone attempts another film in the series. One review perfectly captures the sentiment: “I genuinely believe this was written in crayon.”

1. War of the Worlds (2025)
The average Letterboxd user rating for War of the Worlds is a remarkably low 0.97. The film feels less like a serious science fiction story and more like a poorly made, pandemic-era production featuring disinterested celebrities. It’s also essentially a two-hour advertisement for Amazon, with the plot revolving around a hacker (played by Ice Cube) who must use an Amazon drone to save the world. During a planetary crisis, the film awkwardly pauses to promote Amazon’s Prime Air delivery service. It’s so bad and so overtly commercial that it’s hard to even consider it a movie, making it the lowest-rated film of the past decade. Achieving a score under 1.0 on Letterboxd is extremely rare, requiring almost everyone who saw the film to give it the worst possible rating.
