The ending of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular manga, Chainsaw Man, surprised many fans last weekend. The critically acclaimed series started in 2018 on Shonen Jump+ and began its second part in 2022. Unlike many other manga, which often hint at their endings weeks or months in advance to build excitement, Chainsaw Man’s finale came as a complete shock. In comparison, fans have known for a while that Black Clover will end this year. Meanwhile, Sakamoto Days began its final arc last July, but there haven’t been any announcements about when it will actually conclude.
I’ve been a huge fan of Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days ever since it started in Weekly Shonen Jump – it already had a massive following even before the anime came out! It’s such a fun action-comedy about Taro Sakamoto, this legendary former assassin who was once the most feared hitman around. But he just walked away from that life for his wife! The story kicks off five years after he’s settled down with his wife and daughter, and things get crazy when his past suddenly catches up with him, threatening everything he’s built.
Sakamoto Days Is Preparing For Its Grand Finale

The manga is currently in its final arc, known as the Final Battle, which began in July 2025. The newest story arc, New JAA, throws the country into turmoil when Kei Uzuki’s scheme causes society to fall apart. Taro and his friends are desperately trying to stop Uzuki before everything is lost, but the country has become a dangerous place. With over 250 chapters already published, this final battle is the most intense yet, and the release date for the finale is still to be announced.
New, exciting chapters of the manga come out every week, and the story is quickly building towards its ending. You can watch the anime on Netflix, and read the manga on the official Manga Plus app. Viz Media also offers the manga digitally for free on their Sakamoto Days website, and you can purchase both physical and digital volumes there as well.
The series is getting a live-action movie adaptation coming out on April 19th, 2026, which could lead to even more projects in the future. While it will initially be released in Japan, there’s no word yet on whether it will be shown in theaters worldwide. The movie is already generating excitement among fans and even praise from the series’ original creator, thanks to its impressive action sequences and cast. The film will be released in two parts, with the second part expected to reveal more details after its April debut.
